Custom Interface is Hiring a Material Control Specialist Near Bingen, WA

Summary: The Material Control Specialist receives and inspects incoming packages, stocks inventory and pulls parts for kitting work orders to meet the production schedule. This position may also prepare and package products for shipping.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Receive deliveries, unpack and inspect material into inventory or reject non-conforming material.
  • Perform all receiving and material movement functions physically and systemically.
  • Properly store and retrieve material as needed.
  • Ensure the orderly physical storage and maintenance of accurate documentation (within the company’s ERP software system) of inventory within the company’s inventory area.
  • Review all entries of inventory transactions as required into the company’s ERP systems to accurately record the movement of materials within the company.
  • Performs periodic physical inventories and/or maintenance of a cycle count program to ensure inventory accuracy and reporting.
  • Ensure all inventory is maintained accurately, and provided to required areas in a timely manner.
  • Ensure Kit integrity is maintained by monitoring the day to day requirements to support the manufacturing build schedule.
  • Be aware of processing time goals set by Production for Kit processing.
  • Accurately assemble kits by due date including cutting stock and printing labels.
  • Pull oldest stock first (FIFO).
  • Process kits through Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Process stock transfers and material requests.
  • Deliver kits to Production.
  • Assist with all inventory variance investigations as required.
  • Process transactions within the company’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software system and other required documentation.
  • Assist as required in coordinating with Quality to ensure that routine, incoming inspections of manufacturing materials and any special inspection requirements are performed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor the receipt, transaction and proper routing of customer product returns within the guidelines of the company’s returned material authorization system.
  • Provide assistance as needed with transaction history investigations pertaining to receiving accuracy discrepancies.
  • Communicate with Customer Service, Purchasing, Planning, and others as required.
  • Ensure accurate parts put-away, and parts delivery to the assembly line.
  • Responsible for maintaining the neat and orderly appearance of the company’s inventory storage and warehouse areas.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Process MNF’s. (Material Notification Forms.)
  • Timely process receivables and shipments.
  • Shipping duties may include coordinating and prioritizing the orderly physical handling, required packaging and safe movement of finished product, making arrangements with shipping companies and accurate order fulfillment and other inventory transactions into the company’s ERP system related to the shipment of materials and products to external suppliers and customers.
  • Operate material handling equipment - including potential use of forklifts or other equipment with appropriate training and/or certification.
  • May require the handling of hazardous materials with proper training, PPE and SDS procedures for safe handling and storage.
  • Recommend safety, quality, or efficiency improvements.
  • Escalate issues, and support daily problem-solving as required.
  • Follow company processes to scrap defective and expired materials.
  • Comply with the safety policies and procedures.
  • Comply with employee handbook policies and procedures.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 or more years’ experience in the movement of materials within a manufacturing production environment preferred.
  • Experience with software based inventory management systems preferred.
  • Must be very detail oriented; neat and tidy with your work.
  • Ability to accurately read measurements, basic math skills to ensure product is cut to correct lengths.
  • Must be able to count tiny parts accurately.
  • Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel and ERP software.
  • Ability to remain calm and positive in stressful situations while working in a team environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Body positions include standing, sitting, reaching, bending, and walking.
  • Must have good hand dexterity to handle tiny parts with efficiency.
  • May require repetitive arm and hand movements.
  • Vision equal or corrected to 20/20 on a Snellen eye chart. Must be able to determine colors.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Working Conditions: Custom Interface’s facility is a manufacturing environment where temperature variations exist from opening doors to the outside environment, smoke particulates from soldering and other manufacturing operations frequently occur and there are occasionally noise levels that require hearing protection.
