Custom Forest Products is Hiring a Diesel and Trailer Maintenance Mechanic Near Spartanburg, SC

Summary: As a team member at Custom Forest Products, you will be expected to live out our core values of IntegrityDedication and Teamwork. This is a rolling stock (trailers, box trucks, forklift, etc.) Maintenance position. This position will help ensure the efficient and effective use of company's assets. Responsibilities will extend to supporting the plant Maintenance Team as a secondary priority. In order to ensure compliance with annual Federal Inspections, the ideal candidate will be DOT certified. They will be able to inspect and provide maintenance to our fleet of tractor trailers in order to keep them road worthy.

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for overseeing maintenance efforts for rolling stock assets. Duties will include changing tires; repairing hydraulics systems; inspecting the overall condition of trailers, repairing holes in floors and/or roofs, repairing electrical systems that support lights, and some powertrain (truck, forklift, etc.) repairs.. Maintaining the equipment to ensure each asset meets U.S. Department of Transportation's safety requirements; and compile inspection reports detailing their findings. Responsible for monthly preventive maintenance checks and general maintenance as needed in order to keep the equipment road worthy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Trouble shooting and problem solving electrical and mechanical issues related to trucks, trailers, forklift and other roll stock equipment.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to constructively interact with others to resolve issues and improve the operation.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in PC skills
  • Possess sound organizational, decision making, leadership and motivational skills.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the factory needs.

Education and/or Experience: Strong mechanical skills with some electrical background. Has the ability to make repairs and perform upkeep maintenance on tractor trailers.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and regularly works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
