The Role

We are looking for a strategic leader with technical expertise in AWS to work in our IT Corporate department as a Director, IT Engineering and Operations. In this role, you will report to the SVP, IT Corporate Technology and will be responsible for overseeing Curi’s infrastructure engineering and operations. This includes building new cloud solutions, modernizing legacy workloads, and automating maintenance. You will also focus on ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and scalability of IT systems to meet the growing needs of the organization.

Key Result Areas

• Strategic and Hands-On Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of a strategic technology infrastructure plan, while also being willing and able to dive into technical details as needed. 
• Team Development and Management: Directly build and manage a small team of infrastructure engineers and operations staff, providing hands-on mentorship, fostering professional growth, and promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
• Operational Excellence: Hands-on management of our AWS infrastructure to ensure its reliability, performance, and security. Implement best practices in cloud operations, including disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Innovation and Optimization: Actively seek and implement new and innovative cloud solutions. Drive creative optimizations to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve system scalability and reliability.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Liaise with other departments to identify and support their technology needs, ensuring that infrastructure services are seamlessly integrated and aligned with business processes. Partner in mergers and acquisitions to integrate systems and applications.

Skills 

• Technical Expertise: Strong technical background in AWS services, cloud architecture, and infrastructure management. Familiarity with DevOps practices, Git version control, infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform), scripting, automation tools, CI/CD pipelines, and observability best practices.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, with a focus on goal achievement and professional growth.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and translate business objectives into actionable technology strategies.
• Problem-solving: Excellent problem-solving skills, with a capacity to handle complex challenges and drive solutions that align with strategic objectives.
• Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with technical teams, senior management, and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field and/or equivalent work experience. 
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in infrastructure, software development, or related technology roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
• Proven track record in managing AWS-hosted infrastructure and leading engineering and operations teams.
• Certifications in AWS or other cloud providers are highly desirable.
