JOB SUMMARY
The Compounding Lab Assistant Supervisor is a registered and certified pharmacy technician position who supports Curexa Pharmacy services through the supervision of compounding personnel and workflows. The position will assist the Lab Production Manager, in numerous aspects of non-sterile compounding of and workflow management of hazardous and non-hazardous preparations using the principles of compounding practices meeting USP and USP standards.
Technical duties include, but are not limited to, supervising staff workflow and service level management, staff development, safety and regulatory compliance. Responsible for delegating compounding tasks, directing overall production workflow, driving a continuous quality improvement culture, ensuring adherence to SOPs, safety protocols, and quality standards and other duties as assigned. Additionally, shall ensure smooth workflow transition and relevant communication across lab shifts.
Shall maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary working environment by complying with Curexa policies and procedures, SOPs, NJ state Board of Pharmacy regulations and federal laws, and to facilitate Curexa?s growth and success of the pharmacy.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Compound Lab Assistant Supervisor reports directly to the Lab Production Manager and indirectly reports to the Lab Supervisor and assigned Lab Pharmacist(s) on duty.
REQUIREMENTS (GENERAL, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES)
? 18 years if age or older with High School Diploma/GED equivalent
? Licensed as a registered as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing in New Jersey
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills
? Basic math skills
? Ability to read, write and speak English
? Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. over short distances
? Body movements consist of walking, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending; and flexing the arms, legs, wrists and fingers. Standing for most of the shift.
? Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner and with accuracy
? Basic computer proficiency with the willingness to learn specific pharmacy-based computer software; Word and Excel proficiency is a plus
? At least 2 years of previous management or supervisory experience
? Project management skills, organization, and attention to detail
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, AND TASKS
? Ensure overall production?s workflow is maintained within defined production schedule that reflects service level goals relating to inventory replenishment and/or identified Service Level Agreement items; review daily operations metrics, KPI?s, and provided data when assigning staffing to daily/weekly workflow
? Collaborates directly with Lab Production Manager, Lab Supervisors, Account Managers, and Fulfillment/Operations Management staff to address and resolve partner service level, communication, logistics, and inventory issues in a timely fashion
? Collaborates with Lab Management Staff and Team Leads to ensure smooth workflow transition and relevant communication across all lab shifts
? Assists with time card monitoring and documentation of occurrence points per company policy to lab staff; documentation includes instances of point assignment and exceptions
? Assists with and handles entry of tickets for staff training/education assignments as warranted utilizing the training and leadership team?s ticketing portal
? Assist with auditing, monitoring, and ensuring all lab staff are following regulatory / quality standards / processes and policies in place as defined by Curexa?s Policy & Procedures, Quality Systems, and SOP?s
? Assist with leading weekly huddles with Lab Pharmacist(s) and Team Leads to discuss workflow, staffing, and equipment issues
? Hold one on ones with each Technician Lead (at least once monthly); hold informal one on one with other lab staff to gather ideas for continuous quality improvements
? Assist and support the Supervisor for monthly Lab Staff meeting to communicate new or policy review, company updates, quality, and regulatory information to all lab staff
? Monitor email and team chat(s) and provide communication responses, acknowledgement, or updates for requests from fulfillment staff, account managers, and upper management promptly (within an hour of request) via email or teams chat
? Assist with interviewing and hiring staff to fill for approved budgeted lab positions for their respective shift when applicable
? Assist with approving PTO for assigned lab staff; monitor/update for missing clock in/out punches
? Address via counseling (verbal and documented) with staff members who are non-compliant with Curexa?s policies, SOPs, quality standards, approved productivity metrics, or proper behavior
? Assist with providing input on and conducting mid-year and annual (30/60 day for new hires) performance reviews for compounding staff in a timely and reasonable manner
? Coordinate with trainer for new employee onboarding / training and existing staff certification, competency, and retraining; enter training tickets when applicable
? Address issues affecting team workflow promptly and escalate issue to proper upper management/Pharmacist on duty when applicable
? Handle and submit written request(s) for ordering of lab supplies / equipment to designated Purchasing Specialist or Inventory Manager
? Coordinate with facilities for maintenance or Preventative Maintenance or directly with vendors of equipment for repairs or servicing when applicable; update, communicate, and coordinate with the Quality Control Manager for internal compliance documentation of equipment that is down or in need of repair or servicing
? Assist in developing lab production metrics and standard times for reasonable completion of compounding task(s)
? Assist in collecting daily/weekly/monthly metrics to Lab Operations Analyst and Production Lab Manager
? Communicate with Warehouse designated staff to coordinate delivery of required raw materials, packaging, and lab supplies
? Collaborate with the Lab Management to address any urgent/emergency OOS issues from fulfillment; adjust schedule and communicate any updated ETA for batch completion to relevant stake holders
? Support lab?s workflow by compounding, packaging, or labeling preparation batches; incorporating additional new preparations into area?s workflow as warranted
? Supports the goals, policies, and standard operating procedures of the pharmacy
? Assist the Lab Managment or designated Quality/Regulatory Compliance personnel to implement and roll out new or changes/improvements to existing policies and procedures, maintain lab area cleaning schedule, and address deficiencies identified via internal quality audits in timely fashion
? Works directly with the Lab Trainer(s) to schedule, identify, and re-enforce training/retraining of team members to ensure compliance, competency, and documentation of approved best standards of practice
? Monitors and assures work area is maintained as a safe, clean, and sanitary condition at all times; addresses any deviations from a safe, clean, and sanitary conditions immediately
? Maintain confidentiality of all company information and ensure support personnel exercise equal discretion
? Operate ethically and in compliance with all federal, state board of pharmacy and accreditation regulations and all USP 795 and USP 800 guidelines for an FDA 503a pharmacy
