Job Requirements and Duties
Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding, including designs, maintenance, and repair.
Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting and welding techniques and equipment.
Work with wrenches, ratchets, screw drivers’ pliers, air, and electric impact guns.
Electrical knowledge: wiring 12-volt systems, following electrical schematics, crimping wires, making plugs for electrical connections, running, and tying up wiring.
Plumbing knowledge: running hydraulic lines and hoses making sure connections are tight and there are no leaks.
Welding, Fabricating and Torching: cutting truck frames to length, drilling holes, welding and mounting to fasten truck bodies and cylinders to beds.
Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise
production of technical plans, drawings, models, and blueprints.
Monitors the welding and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
Able to read blueprints, schematics, or similar documentation, then build to those specifications.
Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
Assembles hydraulics onto garbage, refuge trucks according to directions.
Capable of working with minimal supervision and instructions once trained.
Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
