Cupcakin Bake Shop is Hiring a General Manager - Bakery Near Berkeley, CA

Role DescriptionThe General Manager at Cupcakin’ Bake Shop is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the bakery's operations, including front-of-house (FOH) and kitchen management. This role involves creating and implementing systems, managing inventory, hiring and training staff, monitoring financial performance, and ensuring excellent customer & staff experience. From optimizing inventory to crafting exceptional customer experiences, you'll be at the forefront of our retail evolution and the Ambassador of Cupcakin's visions and values. Qualifications And Expectations
  • Minimum of 2-5 year experience as in Hospitality Management.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Maintaining ServSafe Certification is required.
  • Hospitality driven mindset with a passion for restaurants, bars, coffee and tea, etc.
  • Proficient in P&L management.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Strong learning agility, an ability to navigate ambiguity, willingness to speak up and ask for help when needed.
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening and the ability to ask great questions.
  • Operating with a sense of urgency and purpose; meeting aggressive deadlines.
Basic Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee FOH and Kitchen Managers: Monitor management performance, review weekly reports, scheduling, budget, etc.
  • Approve daily shifts, review reports, reconcile daily sales, labor, and budget, and manage schedules.
  • Organize, Implement, and Oversee Systems for FOH:
  • Assess needs for system implementation and regularly evaluate and improve current systems.Oversee production processes, such as flavor rollouts.
  • Oversee Daily Inventory & Audits: Review product inventory weekly and ensure daily uploads to the POS system for tracking.
  • Review reconciliation daily for accuracy and loss prevention.
  • Quality Control: Oversee product quality control processes to ensure consistency and adherence to recipes and standards.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance procedures to meet food safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Review current and prior week production schedules for adequacy and waste management.
  • Create/Monitor Managers' Schedules: Create a management schedule one month out and ensure monthly lead time for staff schedules.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise bakery staff, including bakers, decorators, and sales associates. Interview, reference check, and qualify new managers.
  • Schedule staff shifts, assign tasks, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to optimize performance.
  • Oversee Ongoing Training Program: Ensure managers follow a rigid checklist for training that is signed off by trainee and manager.
  • Oversee Onboarding Process of All Staff: Ensure all required onboarding paperwork is complete by reviewing and signing off.
  • Financial Management: Monitor and manage expenses, including labor costs, ingredient costs, and overhead, to ensure profitability. Prepare and analyze financial reports, such as sales reports and budget forecasts, to identify areas for improvement and opportunities for growth.
  • Oversee Outsourced Services:
  • Oversee daily audit of drivers and ensure accurate receivable counts.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting customers, addressing inquiries, and resolving complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Weekly Reporting to Senior Management: Prepare and deliver reports on the prior week's performance, based on predefined assessment criteria.
  • Weekly Management Meeting: Attend and actively participate in weekly management meetings, providing updates and reports as necessary.
  • Oversee Labor Budget Adherence: Monitor labor costs as a percentage of revenue weekly and report any variances.
  • Implement Sales Goals Incentives: Collaborate with upper and front-of-house (FOH) management to establish sales goals and manage incentive programs.
  • Oversee & Establish Perks Program: Establish a perks program for all staff to boost morale and reward performance.
  • Oversee Loss Prevention: Oversee FOH and BOH managers' loss prevention reports.
  • Oversee Company Credit Card Usage: Monthly review of credit card usage and report.
  • Oversee Delivery Vehicle Maintenance:Ensure FOH managers maintain delivery vehicles for regular cleanings, annual registration, and ongoing scheduled maintenance.
  • Oversee Marketing Program:Contribute ideas to social media marketing and oversee marketing efforts.
  • Oversee Scheduling & Staff Meetings:Review staff scheduling for budget adherence and proper coverage.
  • Oversee Organization and Cleanliness of Bakeries:Ensure bakeries are kept clean and organized according to established standards.
  • Oversee Equipment Needs/Repair:Track equipment needs and purchase dates and oversee quarterly vendor reviews for cost comparison.
  • Oversee Prep Systems & Inventory: Weekly review of prep schedules and inventory distribution.
  • Conduct Quarterly Focus/Kick-off Meetings: Engage staff in interactive and collaborative meetings to improve culture, boost performance, and maintain high morale.
