POSITION DETAILS

Lehman College’s School of Education is looking for a full-time Academic Program Coordinator for the 2023-2024 academic year for Computing Integrated Teacher Education (CITE), to create a collaborative relationship across university and school partnerships that would help build a pathway to support and prepare undergraduate and graduate pre-service teachers to infuse innovative pedagogical practices that include DEI initiatives, computational thinking and computer science. The Academic Program Coordinator will report directly to the department Chair of Middle and High School Education.

The following candidate’s responsibilities willinclude:

  • Collaborate with CITE team and across Center for School-College Collaboratives initiatives to create and implement a strategic plan to support the growth and development of teacher education programs.

  • Create and develop relationships with local community and/or professional development schoolsand organizationswhereteacher candidates and undergraduate students interested in a professional pathway to teaching are welcomed and can seek mentorship.

  • Coordinate recruitment efforts to support and guide a team of faculty and staff of all ranks working across the three departments (Middle and High School Education (MHSE); Early Childhood/Childhood Education (ECCE); Counseling Leadership, Leadership, Literacy, and Special Education (CLLSE)) and Library faculty to coordinate the integration of computing across the scope and sequence of teacher education candidates.

  • Assist students who are interested in and/or pursuing a career in teaching with professional, academic, and/or social- emotional guidance to identify and achieve their professional goals.

  • Communicate with both faculty and students affiliated with the program that keeps participants up to date on events, opportunities, deadlines and engaged with interesting, project-aligned content.

  • Assist with the collection of administrative and research data to monitorprogress.

  • Assist project staff to log in faculty generated CITE Project artifacts

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

Travel around New York City to colleges and schools may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

MSEd or MA in Education or related field is preferred and experience as a classroom teacher and/or working within a school isrequired.

Creative and innovative with a strong commitment to supporting equitable and institutional change across public schools. Strong interpersonal and skills to support working effectively with diverse members of the university community, as well as local public-school administrators and teachers, as well as external constituents.

Time management skills, detail orientated, and well-organized to support and execute work plans.

Prior knowledge of how to use Airtable

Strong knowledge of how to use excel

Knowledge of CUNY structures and systems; experience within the system is preferred.

Prior knowledge of how to conduct queries CUNYFirst

  • Supports the directors and managers with orientation preparation, student advisement regarding program requirements, and providing basic information about financial aid and registration

  • Manages office records including faculty files; prepares reports and surveys; collects and maintains statistical data on program activities

  • Serves as liaison to various College offices to provide service delivery and appropriate referrals to students

  • Collects and reviews syllabi to ensure compliance with standards

  • Serves as resource person for students and faculty regarding program policies and procedures

  • May supervise office operations and/or monitor department budget

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience. $79,726 -$86,188
