We are seeking Journeyman Service Technicians to join our team. Journeyman Service Technicians are responsible for installing and completing high-quality electrical field work and taking measures to increase the company’s effectiveness and efficiency.

Duties & Responsibilities: The statements below are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work performed in this role. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Additional responsibilities may also be assigned. Must be organized, plan and coordinate work ahead of time.

  • Train, manage and evaluate project team
  • Ability to assist Forman / Superentendant to prepare construction schedules
  • Create, influence, and maintain schedules for proper resource utilization and material usage
  • Can plan and coordinate material and logistical needs of a project efficiently
  • Create & maintain daily reports, timesheets, safety and incident reports
  • Coordinate production and attend meetings with other trades and the client to identify and resolve any conflicts
  • Can effectively track production to meet/beat labor goals
  • Plan, organize, and direct production in accordance with the contracted scope of work
  • Oversee quality assurance and quality control programs
  • Coordinate work with Purchasing to ensure that requested material is expedited and received as needed for the construction of a project
  • Ensure all installations meet quality and electrical code standard
  • Ability to build and grow partnerships with clients for continued work
  • Can build/design effective layout drawings and record drawings
  • Effectively manage each project by ensuring that all materials, tools, equipment and job information are on the jobsite or in the service van ahead of time.
  • Responsible for operating a company vehicle, and will be responsible for operating it in an appropriate manner. Misuse or abuse of company vehicle will not be tolerated.
  • Communicate with vendors, engineers, owners, service managers and other contractors to assure jobs are completed within scope and budget.
  • Treat client with highest degree of respect and work to develop a partnership environment.
  • Investigate and problem solve to determine the most efficient way to install changes to existing service.
  • Work as team member by assisting other where needed and follow a neat and process-oriented work style.
  • Be efficient with your time and materials while ensuring top quality electrical installations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on any issues or room for improvement.
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining all tools. Misuse or abuse of equipment will not be tolerated.
  • Attention to detail and handle every client request with professionalism.
  • Estimate the general amount of time and material to complete service tasks, taking into account the needs and manpower requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Potty’s).
  • Job requires employee to have required personal tools with them at all time (waist tool belt as worn weighs approximately 30 lbs.).
  • Work from all type ladders (step ladders up to 14', "A" frame ladders, and all size extension ladders and carry and relocate up to 12' step ladders by one's self.
  • Employee's personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1 - 250 lbs., Class 1A - 300 lbs.)
  • Perform work at various heights, up to 90' from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks or other safe work areas.
  • Work in restricted areas (switchgear room, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, and attics).
  • Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat and safety glasses at all times) and respirator when required.
  • Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime as required, and night shifts.

PHYSICAL FUNCTION

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Lift 51 pounds, 20 times per day.
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
  • Constantly moving on your feet.
  • Climb ladders (all types).
  • Completing overhead work for full day assignments.
  • Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use.
  • Possess good vision (normal or corrected).
  • Possess good hearing (normal or corrected).
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions including jobsite directions, maps, and instructional manuals.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions.
  • Current TX electrical journeyman license
  • Industrial and Implementation experience, a plus
  • Minimum of 4 years documented field work in the industrial and/or commercial industry, or completion of 4 year electrical apprenticeship program
  • Current driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record is a requirement of this position
  • Knowledge of and abide by all safety and traffic laws in the state of Texas
  • Excellent understanding of the electrical industry
  • Punctual, motivated and detail oriented
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills in order to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and flexible to accommodate changes in Cummings’ business strategies
  • Must be able to work well and with others
  • Willing to travel as needed

Employment at Cummings is subject to background check and drug screen; must be eligible to work in the United States.

Compensation requirements commensurate with experience and demonstarted skill level.

Pay: $34.00 - $45.00 per hour
