The Traveling Electrical Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting the Project Manager and project teams through support and collaboration in a variety of functions including evaluation, organization, execution, and reporting of project management assignments on electrical construction projects. Assistant Project Managers work within established processes and systems with the overall objective of managing/coordinating and completing project activities while maintaining compliance with contracts encompassing project safety, quality, value, timeliness, and profitability. Responsibilities

The statements below are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work performed in this role. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Additional responsibilities may also be assigned. 

  • Participate in subcontractor project orientation meetings, project team meetings, and GC sub meetings
  • Develop submittal logs
  • Communicate and coordinate submittals and coordination drawings with subcontractors and Project Superintendent
  • Review and process all submittal data and shop drawings to ensure project schedules are expedited and materials are delivered on time
  • Sustain productive customer relationships while meeting the company’s needs
  • Support Project Manager in pricing and selling of change orders

Working Conditions

  • Mainly office but may also include all other work environments as required: sit, stand, talk, hear, use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and telephone.
  • Work is generally performed in climate-controlled office environment.
  • Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
  • Considerable time is spent at a desk using a computer terminal.
  • May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment.
  • Can be exposed to hazardous materials, loud noises and extreme heat/cold temperatures, walking on uneven surfaces, if visiting job sites or other off-site events.
  • Can be exposed to Heavy Equipment, slippery surfaces, uneven footing on the jobsite
  • Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light foot traffic).

Physical Function

  • Repeat the same mental activities.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard at efficient speed and typical business office equipment, including computer hardware.
  • Regularly required to talk and/or hear; use hands to operate objects, tools or controls (phone, computer, printer etc.); and reach with hands and arms.
  • Work performed causes fatigue of eyes, fingers and other facilities because of continuous use of motor senses.
  • Vision and hearing at or correctable to normal ranges.
  • May be occasionally be asked to lift, stoop, kneel, and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear and use hands.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Construction Science, Management, Engineering, or other related experience preferred.
  • One year of relevant construction related experience. Previous construction internship preferred.
  • Analytical thinker who can identify problems as well as potential solutions
  • Demonstrated willingness to offer ideas, opinions, and feedback
  • Ability to build relationships, collaborate, and communicate effectively throughout the organization and with our suppliers/partners
  • Ability to lead through influence to drive change and deliver positive outcomes
  • Strong math and problem solving skills are required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office platform including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Bluebeam software proficiency preferred
  • Must be able to work at project jobsites throughout the country, if needed
  • Willing to travel outside of DFW/N TX area
