Cumberland County Charter School Network is Hiring a Preschool Aide Near Vineland, NJ

Position Title: Classroom Aide

General Description: The Classroom Aide is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher as needed. The Classroom Aide may work with individual and/or small groups of students to provide support. The Classroom Aide will assist in the supervision, safety and instructional support of classroom and student activities as a collaborative team member under the direction of the Teacher and/or Administration.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists the classroom teacher in the delivery of an effective instructional program and in developing positive relationships with students and parents.
  • Works with individual or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.
  • Actively engages in activities; manages cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials and equipment.
  • Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by teacher.
  • Engages students in conversation to encourage language development and participation.
  • Observes and documents children's interests and progress, and relays that information to parents and staff.
  • Distributes, collects, and checks notebooks, workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
  • Supervises testing, make-up work, independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned.
  • Assists with the supervision of students during non-instructional times; including, but not limited to, drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
  • Implements developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher and the Principal.
  • Helps the teacher to plan and maintain bulletin board and other classroom learning displays.
  • Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
  • Performs clerical duties related to the instructional program including, but not limited to, attendance reports, collection of money, duplication of materials, and distribution and return of notices to home.
  • Assists students with various projects, crafts, and curriculum tasks.
  • Provide services which conform to objectives, board policies, administrative directions and state laws/regulations.
  • Helps students when needed with their clothing, snack time routines, and, when required, toileting activities.
  • Helps students with behavioral challenges to successfully participate in classroom, social and home activities.
  • Provide educational instruction in classroom settings as assigned.
  • Participates in in-service training as assigned.
  • The ability to effectively utilize available technologies.
  • Take adequate measures to insure the health, safety, and welfare of students.
  • Keep informed about school policies and procedures.
  • Be punctual and maintain regular attendance at school and at prescribed meetings.
  • Assumes other related responsibilities and duties within the context of employment and certification as may be directed by school administration, central office, or the Board of Trustees.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated passion and belief that all students can achieve success through education
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Duties may require working outside of instructional hours/extended hours.

Salary/Schedule: Salary is $32,000 annually. This is a full-time, 10-month contract position.

Education/Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree or sixty (60) credit completion in early childhood education or related field, required.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification, required
  • Early childhood setting experience, preferred.
