DEFINITION
Under general supervision of the Associate Director, Continuing Education & Special Programs, and in collaboration with Continuing Education staff and noncredit faculty provide oversight, outreach, and retention and student success strategies, and matriculation services for Continuing Education and Special programs, and perform other related duties as required.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The incumbent in this position performs professional and collaborative work in support of the Continuing Education programs and exercises independent judgment in the application of District policies and procedures,
The assignment may be at any District site as well as off-campus sites throughout the county, and the incumbent will be required to work evening hours and have occasional weekend assignments.
Incumbents in this position support student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness by recruiting new students and assisting those students with the admissions, financial aid, matriculation services, and Student Equity and Achievement processes.
Essential Functions & Qualifications
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collaborate and coordinate with Associate Director and Continuing Education staff on the implementation of student equity and achievement success strategies; Collaborate with the Continuing Education staff and Associate Director of Continuing Education & Special Programs on outreach recruitment and retention projects;
Develop, expand and enhance district-wide outreach efforts to include community partners and agencies, local school districts, and businesses;
Coordinate with the Associate Director, Continuing Education & Special Programs on the recruitment and hiring of short-term temporary employees to support the Continuing Education programs;
Support the Continuing Education programs and students at community sites;
Complete, submit, and maintain records of facility-use forms, and Memorandum of Agreements for off campus sites;
Coordinate with the Associate Director of Continuing Education on scheduling registration dates and noncredit matriculation services;
Coordinate with Admissions & Records and the Continuing Education program to assist students with noncredit certificate completion process;
Coordinate with the Continuing Education program to schedule CASAS pre- and post-testing for noncredit WIOA II students;
Conduct recruitment activities and marketing strategies to increase noncredit student enrollment and success;
Assist noncredit students in completing the following processes: Admissions, and Financial Aid, program orientation, assessment, and follow up services;
Conduct workshops and presentations for prospective noncredit students;
Plan outreach strategies with college administrators, faculty and staff;
Conduct outreach activities in a systematic and documented manner, using outreach databases and status reporting tools;
Create and share status reports with the Associate Director of Continuing Education on a regular and scheduled basis;
Collect and review data and compile reports to document student success, matriculation services, course completion, certificate achievement and retention services provided;
Provide effective services to students with diverse academic, professional, and personal goals and help with transitions in and out of noncredit and credit programs;
Initiate referrals to appropriate campus services (to facilitate the students' involvement with the total college experience);
Conduct individual and group orientations for new students;
Conduct assessment processes;
Participate in district wide outreach efforts;
Provide information and interpretations of policies and procedures to Cuesta students and prospective students as a part of the intake process;
Attend required trainings and workshops in order to stay current on district and program policies and procedures;
Follow state and federal program regulations and district policies and procedures; and
Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Required
Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, Spanish, Education, Business/Marketing, or related area;
Bilingual Spanish/English (oral and written).
Experience:
Required
Three (3) years' experience working with program(s) designed to support educational opportunities for underserved populations.
Preferred
Experience working in an educational institution;
Experience in marketing or coordinating educational programs.
Knowledge of:
Techniques and skills necessary for outreach, public relations, publicity, marketing, advertising and sales;
Drafting effective written correspondence, including report writing;
Record keeping procedures;
The District's community and its diverse population;
Correct English and Spanish usage;
Current technologies, personal computer, and associated office software such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and/or database software;
Correct usage of English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary; and
District policies and procedures.
Ability to:
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties; and
Demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and of staff and students with physical and learning disabilities.
Physical ability to:
Read and comprehend printed matter and text and data on computer monitors;
Communicate intelligibly and effectively via speech, telephone, written correspondence, and/or email;
Sit or stand for extended periods of time;
Lift and/or carry 25 pounds; and
Exert manual dexterity sufficient for keyboard and other office equipment operation.
License and Certificates (current within the last year) :
Required
Valid driver's license and eligible to obtain California driver's license upon hire.

SALARY SCHEDULE
Below is the full salary schedule range for this position, steps A through E. Per Cuesta College's bargaining agreement, new employees are placed at Steps A through C, which is the anticipated hiring range also listed below. Salary Schedule Range: $4,541 - $5,520 per month.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,541 - $5,007 per month.
