Job Overview

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all refrigeration/support systems.

Responsibilities

Duties and Essential Job Function:

• Assure all PSM documents are completed in a timely manner to comply with local code.
• Review downtime, follow up as necessary to assure proper start-up.
• Follow up on prior days downtime and equipment problems.
• Assure all parts are ordered and approved.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks such as compressor inspections, oil changes, filter replacements, and system cleaning to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
• Meeting with maintenance shift supervisors and/or manager
• Responsible for fire sprinkler system for all areas.
• Provide training and guidance to other maintenance staff on safe handling practices, maintenance procedures, and emergency response protocols related to ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment history, parts inventory, and compliance documentation.
• Update daily compressor room logbooks.
• Daily water chemistry for Boilers, RO and Towers, log and correct any issues.
• Daily startup of Freeze tunnels and compressor room
• Responsible for maintaining all refrigeration equipment, freeze tunnels, water wells, water storage and filtering, boilers/steam piping, and wastewater treatment plant.
• Responsible for keeping the engine room, boiler area, cooling tower area, and wastewater area clean and always organized.
• Assist Engineering as needed with Refrigeration System upgrades and new installations.
• Follow all food safety (GMP) and general safety guidelines.
• Follow all lock-out/tag-out procedures for all equipment.
• Complete other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

What we need from you:

• Extensive knowledge and design of refrigeration systems, ammonia systems, hydraulics, boilers, and all freezing equipment
• Extensive knowledge of production operations and plant operations and equipment
• Knowledge of welding
• Five years of experience in an industrial refrigeration work environment
• Read, write, and understand English at a technical level.
• Read and understand schematics and technical material.
• Advanced math
• Electrical/electronic/PLC trouble shooting and repair ability.
• Proven experience working with ammonia-based refrigeration systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Member of local R.E.T.A chapter and completed CRST (Certified Refrigeration Service Technician) certification.

Physical Requirements: 

• Respiratory and Pulmonary fit testing (full face respirator)
• Lift up to 50 pounds
• Frequently work in an extremely cold environment
