Job Overview

The PLC Automation Specialist will be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining industrial automation systems, as well as troubleshooting existing systems and providing technical support. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilites:

  • Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot, temperature / pressure and flow devices both field indicators and sending devices to PLCs.
  • Monitor / Program PLC logic for process changes and improvements.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical distribution and protection circuits up to 480VAC.
  • Document all work using CMMS, P&Ids, As Builts, and logic prints.
  • Execute work in a safe and expedient manner.
  • Audit preventive/ predictive maintenance
  • Provide practical solutions to operations/ controls problems.
  • Look for opportunities to help work get done safer, faster and more cost effective.
  • Participate in projects development and project meetings.
  • Assist in the planning and direction of strategic improvements to keep plant process controls up to date using current best practice and latest technologies.
  • Develop and maintain the site calibration system.

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • Formal Degree or certification preferable and equivalent experience accepted. Such experience would be equal to at least 5 years in PLC programming, material specification and cost control experience.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US, now and in the future, without sponsorship.
  • A 2 year engineering or technical degree or appropriate experience, Electrical preferred, Mechanical accepted.
  • Ability to identify and demonstrate technology solutions for operations applications
  • Understanding of Medium and Low Voltage Motor Control Solutions.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in automation.
  • Experience in PLC Ladder, Structured Text and programming.
  • Experience in Motion Control, servodrive.
  • Good knowledge of Allen Bradley RSLogix 500, 5000 and FactoryTalk softwares.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley equipments: SLC500, CompactLogix, ControlLogix, PanelView, VFD PowerFlex and Servo Drive Kinetix.
  • Knowledge of PLC networks: RIO, Control Net, Device Net, Ethernet IP.
  • Knowledge of Delta motion.
  • Working knowledge of Spanish will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge in electronics and 24 volt DC circuits
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Excellent diagnostic and repair skills for complex problems in automation systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of automation host systems
  • Expert in using test equipment pertaining to job, including oscilloscope, function generators, radio service monitor, etc.
  • Able to perform general PM work: testing end devices, temperature, pressure, and level switches
  • Understanding of pneumatic instrumentation: calibration and maintenance
  • Able to become Electrically qualified per arc flash training.
  • Skillful in reading electronic schematics, identifying components, and understanding their functions
  • Able to calibrate and troubleshoot automation end devices
  • Able to read, program, install and troubleshoot complex PLC programs
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to train technicians in basic controls troubleshooting.
