Summary

The Assembly Technician is responsible for the assembly, cabling, and testing of various types of electronic racks and cabinets.

The Technician will be required to follow detailed construction drawings and documentation. The successful candidate will have mechanical aptitude, exhibit attention to detail, and enjoy learning new things.

This is a new team and the workers must be flexible and willing to work in warehouse area receiving product and pulling building components in addition to assembly.

Contract to hire after 3-6 months.

Hours 7am - 3 : 30pm w / 1 / 5 hr. lunch - hours could change to start time of 6am based on client need.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Review work instructions to determine most efficient way to approach the build
• Unpack equipment from shipping containers, inspect for physical defects or damage, and stage for installation
• Inventory supplied equipment and material
• Report any damaged equipment and / or material shortages
• Track build process in our warehouse management system
• Perform physical installation of equipment including network switches, servers, storage devices, PDUs and related equipment into racks and cabinets following the work instructions
• Install cabling in a workmanlike manner following the provided work instructions and standards
• Label cables in accordance with customer requirements
• Follow the supplied Quality standards
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Manage provided tool kit and report any damaged tools or additional tool requirements
• Acquire additional skills as required
• Addition responsibilities may be added

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience constructing data center racks and cabinets
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing servers.
• Inspect, test, and diagnose server failures.
• Replace parts as needed.
• Tech will be responsible for testing, trouble shooting, and replacement of parts on servers sent to SMS for diagnosis and repair.

This will consist off but not limited to : Power supplies, Motherboards, and CPU.

Electro-mechanical experience trouble shooting electronic devices.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have proof of US Citizenship

• High School Diploma
• Trade school certification or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 1 year experience working in an assembly, fabrication, or installation capacity with a proven ability to follow instructions and assembly diagrams.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate build status, requirements, and quality concerns
• Ability to work under tight time constraints and meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using basic hand tools and light power tools
• Ability to comprehend technical documentation and diagrams
• Capacity to follow detailed oral and written instructions
• Ability to stoop, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift and move items that weigh up to 50 pounds
• Document all symptoms, test results, and parts replaced in system.
• Maintain parts consumption and overall inventory of customer owned spare parts pool.
• Work and collaborate with other teams such as warehouse, shipping, receiving, and the customer.
