CTCLUSI is Hiring a Registered Nurse - Medical & Behavioral Health Near Coos Bay, OR

Job Description:

SUMMARY

Primarily responsible for coordinating total nursing care for the patient as directed by the physician. Participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working collaboratively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient care personnel. Maintains standards for professional nursing practice according to clinical standards, procedures and departmental objectives.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide all patient care in a manner that reflects respect for patient rights, dignity, values, culture preferences, and expressed needs
  • Assess patient's physical, psychological, and social needs
  • Assess pain and implement appropriate pain management techniques
  • Develop, implement, and revise care plans that reflect patient's diagnosis and outlined standards of care
  • Involve patients and/or significant others in decisions regarding care
  • Document patient history, symptoms, assessments, tests, and care according to guidelines
  • Review patient history, diagnostics, and lab data, and report any abnormalities
  • Educate patient and family on managing injuries and illnesses to ensure a safe and successful discharge
  • Accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care.
  • Supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.
  • Provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and adequacy of resources.
  • possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects.
  • Must have in-depth understanding of anatomy, physiology medical terminology and disease processes.
  • Knowledge of CPT coding, resource management systems, electronic medical record and personal computers beneficial.
  • Demonstrated leadership, independent problem solving, conflict resolution, critical thinking skills, and team building skills required.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, regulations and practices to give and evaluate patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment.
  • Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care.
  • Skill in time management, problem solving, multitasking, prioritizing, and medical care coordination.
  • Skill in initiating appropriate crisis interventions and emergency response.
  • Skill in patient triage in person and on the phone.
  • Skill in preparing/maintaining records, writing reports and responding to correspondence.
  • Ability to analyze options and then counsel patients and families about choices and make referrals to other providers and resources.
  • Ability to engage clients and families in the development and implementation of a care plan.
  • Ability to read and interpret physicians’ orders and notes from other providers.
  • Ability to calculate and administer drug dosages and injections and measure results.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Maintain appearance standards as outlined in CTCLUSI policies.
  • Must be able to interact with Tribal members and the general public in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients and vendors of Three Rivers Health Center.
  • Maintain a good attendance record.
  • Other duties as directed by management.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Standard nursing equipment and supplies including thermometer and syringes. May involve use of assistive devices such as walkers, wheelchairs, ventilators, pulse oximetry units, and oxygen tanks.
  • Must be able to walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Combination of office and exam settings. Frequent exposure to medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to work long hours, which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Must be willing and able to travel both locally and within the CTCLUSI service delivery area.

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

  • Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient’s manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • May be required to work in locations other than Three Rivers Health Center, such as schools or at an outreach work location.
  • May be required to attend meetings, conferences and Tribal events
