css inc. is Hiring a Fabricator (Aluminum and Stainless Steel) Near Durham, NC

CSS is seeking a Fabricator with aluminum and stainless steel experience who will work in the US EPA Research Triangle Park, NC, Model, Machine, and Fabrication shop, and with its personnel supporting research facilities and combustors in an industrial setting. They will be responsible for the design, layout, fabrication, installation, maintenance and repair of industrial equipment and systems, as well as custom prototype devices. The candidate will work closely with other trades and technicians, often helping them complete their projects, as needed to meet schedule requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Fabrication of intricate sampling apparatus from stainless steel.
  • Must be able to fabricate from a design, drawing or a researcher’s concept or idea.
  • Must be able to control inventory of basic stock material, tooling, and hardware needed to perform work.
  • Ensure that Shop Services Request Forms are completed and submitted properly.
  • Must be able to operate or willing to learn how to operate all shop machines and equipment including brakes, grinders, sanders, welders, drill presses, band saws, power tools. All associated wood shop equipment including table saws, panel saws, and miter saws etc.
  • Good general house keeping a must.
  • Work in a safe manner and participate in all safety programs.
  • Must be willing to work outside welding trade as a general shop technician when welding duties are light.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma and trade school
  • Minimum 3 Years’ experience working as a welder.
  • MUST HAVE: Experience welding stainless steel, aluminum and carbon steel. Both intricate and structural welding on all metals is required, including:
  • Must have experience with Tig weld aluminum .062 and up
  • Must have experience with Tig weld stainless .03 and up
  • Must have experience with Mig weld mild and stainless steel
  • Experience with layout, design, fit-up, bending and installation of stainless-steel tubing and pipe on sizes 1/8 inch to 10-inch.
  • Working knowledge of other trades and skills such as electrical, machining, welding, pipe fitting and shop operations in an industrial setting.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills; be able to work as part of team; be willing to work outside your trade to help the team meet the client’s needs.
  • Must have good computer skills, including working with Microsoft Word and Excel
