CSE Inc is Hiring a Fabricator Near Roanoke, VA

Department: Multiple

Reports To: Division Head

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

a.Understands and complies with CSE, Inc. Safety Program, rules, regulations, and updates; Understands OSHA and DOT standards and works within regulations; completes IFTA reports.

b.Operates fabrication shop and machine shop machinery and equipment. Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.

c.Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.

d.Positions workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.

e.Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine.

f.Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.

g.Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.

h.Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpiece.

i.Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies or workpieces.

j.Sets up and performs maintenance on fab and machine shop machines and performs burning work.

k.Sets up and operates machines such as drill presses, punch presses, saws, shears, bending rolls, brakes, grinders, and numerical control equipment to shape and alter steel and metal.

l.Follow blueprints, rough sketches, or engineer drawings to shape steel and metal accurately.

m.Uses hand and power tools to shape, cut, and smooth steel and metal.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED diploma, or three to six months’ related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, blueprints, and schematic drawings. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
