Our client specializes in the transportation of Import and Export Ocean Containers (FCL) out of all the US ports with a very strong presence in the Port of NY and NJ region. Chief Commercial Officer - DrayageOur client is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) with extensive experience in international logistics (drayage, NVO, FF). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building and nurturing client relationships, driving revenue growth, and expanding market presence through active participation in industry trade shows and conferences. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key clients and prospects. Understand their business needs and challenges, and tailor solutions to meet their requirements. Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for client inquiries and issues.
Tradeshow and Conference Attendance: Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to showcase our client’s services and capabilities. Identify and engage with potential clients, partners, and industry influencers to expand our client’s network and generate leads.
Sales Leadership: Lead and motivate the sales team to achieve sales targets and KPIs. Provide guidance and support in prospecting, lead generation, and client acquisition efforts. Monitor sales performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
Operational Excellence: Work closely with operations teams to ensure seamless execution of drayage services, meeting customer expectations for reliability, efficiency, and safety. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization.
Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership and mentorship, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability. Set clear goals and expectations and provide ongoing performance feedback and development opportunities.
Market Analysis and Insights: Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory changes affecting the drayage and logistics sector. Utilize market insights to inform strategic decision-making and business planning.
Performance Tracking and Reporting: Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, pipeline activity, and revenue forecasts. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and opportunities.
Experience:
Experience in commercial leadership roles within the logistics industry, with a focus on drayage.
Proven track record of driving revenue growth and profitability through effective commercial strategies and sales initiatives.
Strong understanding of drayage operations, logistics processes, and transportation management systems.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
A strong network of contacts within the drayage and logistics industry, including shippers, carriers, freight forwarders, and 3PLs.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business priorities.
Willingness to travel frequently to attend trade shows, conferences, and client meetings as needed.
Proficiency in Google and Microsoft Office Suite, as well as CRM software (HubSpot).
