About the role

The Electrical Foreman is responsible for leading an electrical crew on commercial construction sites. Their primary role is to ensure planning, laying out, installing, and wiring electrical components are completed, as per project drawings, specifications and in accordance with applicable electrical codes.

What you'll do

  • Coordinating daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery and personnel
  • Delegating individual responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors
  • Training, managing and mentoring employees
  • Providing adequate resources and staffing to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices and safety needs
  • Emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery and equipment while providing training on safety gear, hardhats and procedures
  • Managing project budgets and quality standards for all sites
  • Resolving conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably
  • Ordering and managing day to day materials and managing quoting materials
  • Regularly reporting project status to supervisors, site engineers and other officials

Qualifications

  • Journeyman or Master Electrical license
  • Customer-service skills to communicate with inspectors and administration to develop a positive working relationship
  • Decision-making skills for selecting personnel and subcontractors for specific tasks and jobs to meet deadlines and budgets
  • Initiative for generating their own business opportunities and being proactive in locating new clients
  • Leadership skills for effectively delegating tasks to lower-level employees, subcontractors and construction workers
  • Speaking skills for providing clear orders, explaining complex information to clients and construction workers and discussing technical details with other building specialists
  • Technical skills for interpreting construction methods and technologies along with contracts and technical drawings
  • Time-management skills to meet deadlines and ensure construction phases are completed on time so that the next phase can start
  • Writing skills for writing budgets, proposals and plans along with documenting work progress for clients and others involved
  • Proven experience as a Foreman for other electrical construction sites
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA guidelines
  • 5 years of electrical field leadership experience.
  • 10 years of electrical experience
  • Crews 10-30
  • Projects up to $10,000,000
  • Strong proficiency in software and tools (e.g., Accubid, McCormick, Bluebeam, Procore, Plangird) and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 35lbs
  • Must be able to work on feet for prolonged periods of time while using tools and perform repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping
