Crystal Finishing Systems Inc is Hiring a Lead Press 1st Shift Mosinee Near Mosinee, WI

General Summary:

Oversees the operation of an assigned aluminum extrusion press to ensure quality parts are produced according to customer specification. Leads and directs the extrusion press work crew.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews schedule to determine number of billets needed to complete the order, number of parts per billet, and temperature for parts.
  • Ensures that the billet temperature is set for all solid and hollow extrusions.
  • Thoroughly inspects material being produced throughout the manufacturing process and makes any corrections as needed.
  • Directs press crew to on every order run to ensure everyone is accomplishing the same goal.
  • Determines the most efficient and cost-effective order to run dies to maximize production.
  • Fill-in on all press positions as needed or required.
  • Performs a quality check every 5-10 billets to ensure they are meeting all specifications.
  • Keeps press running under optimal conditions including keeping it fed with billets and appropriate speed.
  • Continuously inspects material for non-conforming issues including but not limited to die lines, tears, broken holes, and scratches. Works with Die Shop and Manager to correct any errors.
  • Continuously promote a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform maintenance and repair on assigned equipment as required and directed.
  • Must communicate effectively with co-workers on all shifts to ensure smooth transition of workload.
  • Adjust leadership techniques to individual employees to ensure the most effective working relationships and work environment.
  • Provides thorough training to all new employees to the designated work unit. May delegate some training functions to other experienced employees.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with all employees in the department.
  • Shows consistency in treatment of all employees at all times.
  • Shows appreciation to co-workers by recognizing their work and provides recommendation for rewards to the Extrusion Manager.
  • Works with other Leads in an effective, team-oriented manner.
  • Represents Crystal Finishing Systems in a positive manner at all times.
  • Ensures communication link between employees and supervisor/manager.
  • Provides recommendations to Extrusion Manager in the areas of policy development, process changes, quality improvements, cost reductions, etc. to ensure the most effective working environment possible. Actively participates in continuous ongoing process improvement.
  • Provides feedback on employee performance and participates in the review process involving employees in the assigned work unit.
  • Participates in company tours for customers as requested.
  • Motivates employees in a positive manner within work unit to accomplish tasks to meet department goals.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
  • Follows all company policies including maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Maintains confidentiality of proprietary business and employee information.
  • Operates small hand tools and measuring equipment including, but not limited to wrenches, screwdrivers, saws, drills, air tools, gage tables, tape measure, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Efficiently uses materials and other supplies and notifies the correct person when supplies run low.
  • Combination of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in leadership and participation or completion of leadership program preferred. Ability to lead a team environment a must.
  • Previous press operating experience preferred. Normally acquired through three (3) to five (5) years of experience.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure, protractor, maintain and read calipers and micrometers.
  • Must have experience reading blueprints and parts drawings.
  • Basic math and computer skills required.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong understanding of production and quality processes required.
  • Ability to work independently and be self directed.
  • Familiarity with ISO certification and processes preferred.
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills. High levels of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and/or conflicting situations.
