Position Summary
The Workers' Compensation Associate communicates with patients, MCO’s, employers, attorneys, therapists and staff. They complete all Workers Compensation forms.
Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities
Correctly completes assigned forms relating to workers compensation which may include First Report of Injury (FROI), motions; approvals for surgeries, evaluations, treatments; faxes and/or processes forms as needed; handles related phone calls.
Receives and determines appropriate steps to resolve Workers’ Compensation calls from patients, MCO’s, Employers, attorneys, clinicians and staff.
Faxes chart notes to MCO’s BWC, self-insured employers, attorneys and TPA’s upon request.
Maintains familiarity with Ohio BWC website in order to research information.
Documents pertinent information in Centricity. Provides information to billing for submission of bills as assigned; coordinates with billing for retro authorization of denied services.
Prints out approved diagnosis (green sheets) for chart prior to scheduled appointment. Acts as a resource for new WC staff, orienting to department, coaching and mentoring.
All other duties not specifically assigned.
Position Requirements
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: Preferred one year prior experience in a Workers’ Compensation department or medical office.
