Position Summary
The Radiology Supervisor produces high quality radiographs, advanced imaging MRI and/or CAT scan, and maintains equipment associated with the Radiology Department. This position ensures the proper handling of infectious waste and contaminated instruments. Oversees daily operations of the Radiology Departments. Participates in interviewing, training and evaluation processes of each department. Assists the Radiology Director to monitor overall activities of the radiology departments. Ensures quality assurance measures in the radiology departments.
Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities
Supervises daily department operations; Delegates work in an effective manner and provides the necessary leadership to ensure work results; Maintains radiology file records.
Develops, and manages, the department shifts to include overtime assessment and accurately processing payroll. Coordinates, trains, and directs staff intended to meet the intended objectives-demonstrating competency and acceptable quality; Participates in the interviewing and evaluation process for radiology staff; Resolves employee issues and takes disciplinary action with assistance of Human Resources when necessary; Assists Manager in quality assurance, quality control, and staff evaluation. Attends supervisor meetings. Produces high quality images with minimal patient exposure; following ALARA Standards. Practices Radiation, and MRI Safety and assures that staff follows this practice.
Demonstrates proper handling of infectious waste, linens, and surfaces. Ensures proper communication with physicians and staff.
Oversees maintenance of radiology equipment including but not limited to MRI, CAT scan and Ultrasound; Contacting Service as needed. Orders radiology supplies. Develops and maintains an open, honest and mutually beneficial relationship with department manager, fellow supervisors, and departments to which he/she is providing services; Demonstrates skill in working with others and obtaining cooperation; Demonstrates flexibility with new ideas and improvements and creates ways to implement.
Answers telephone calls; Provides daily coverage for all Imaging modalities within scope of care based on Location needs.
IE: Diagnostic Imaging, CAT scan, MRI, and Registration duties.
All other duties not specifically assigned.
Position Requirements
Education: Graduate of school of radiology. ARRT (R), (MR) registry required.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a radiology setting, prior leadership and management experience preferred. Experience in digital imaging, and MRI
Technical Skills: Knowledge of quality assurance procedures; Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: Registered technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
ARRT R, MR Licensed in the State of Ohio. BLS required.
