Job Summary: The GIS Systems Administrator oversees the administration and maintenance of GIS servers, database structures, and associated systems. They are responsible for managing system performance, database security, and user access levels while supporting the enterprise GIS environment and collaborating with stakeholders on GIS-related matters. This role involves planning, coordinating, and implementing database software installations and migrations, as well as creating automation tools and scripts for data processes.
Key Responsibilities:
GIS Server Administration:
Administers GIS server(s) and performs regular operating system updates.
Manages federation, authentication, and access control systems.
Creates and maintains web services and monitors system performance and utilization.
Database Management:
Designs, analyzes, and maintains database structures and schemas.
Implements procedures for database backup, recovery, and security standards.
Supports enterprise GIS environment and collaborates on GIS data and databases with stakeholders.
Database Software Installation and Maintenance:
Plans, coordinates, and supports database software installations and migrations.
Monitors database performance and implements efficiency improvements.
Manages federation, authentication, and access control of an enterprise RDBMS.
Automation and Troubleshooting:
Creates automation tools and scripts for data processes.
Configures automation routines and provides guidance in troubleshooting system software and hardware issues.
Defines disaster recovery responsibilities and procedures.
Vendor Management and Support:
Coordinates with vendors to ensure products operate as required.
Interfaces with technical support staff to resolve issues promptly.
Provides support for GIS software-related Help Desk tickets.
Development and Maintenance:
Develops and maintains add-ins and other data access systems.
Generates and publishes services and database connections.
Builds light applications for interaction with GIS data.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Valid state-issued driver’s license.
Advanced reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
Proficiency in technical skills related to GIS systems and database management.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders.
Proactive in professional development and staying updated with GIS technologies and advancements.
Job Type: Contract
Salary: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
