SUMMARY: The Service Curator is to welcome guests to Rye Deli & Drink. Must be able to take orders while engaged in other tasks, deliver food and beverages to guests in a timely, courteous, efficient and accurate manner with a hospitality first attitude. Must possess detailed knowledge of Rye menus, spirits, wine, coffee and other beverages. Must maintain composure in a fast paced and stressful environment. All functions are to be executed with a guest satisfaction mindset. Must be able to work in, and provide support for a team-centric environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Receive and take guest orders from all revenue centers (including telephone and web based), discuss menu options, ingredients, preparations, accurately secure payment, and process in a timely manner through Rye P.O.S. system.

· Be knowledgeable of web site based ordering system and assist guests in using it as needed.

· Will prepare all service areas before the meal and clean all service areas after the meal (wiping tables, cleaning chairs, ensuring the acceptable appearance of the service areas), as outlined in daily/weekly side work & restocking chart.

· Brews coffee and tea. May be required to restock other areas.

· Interacts and advises guests in the serving and dining areas with a hospitality first attitude.

· Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.

· Deliver orders to service areas, maintain fast service to guests and assemble and package all orders including take-out rapidly and accurately.

· Act as the contact point between Front of the House and Back of the House staff, compile orders from different production revenue centers, i.e. dining room, bar, patio, take-out, delivery, catering and room service.

· Communicate food orders to cooks, paying attention to priority (first in, first out), special requests (e.g. food allergies), ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards (e.g. proper temperature), and assist in the final presentation and garnishing of dishes.

· Remove soiled dishes and utensils and clean and set tables to restaurant standards in all service areas.

· Ensure the efficient flow of orders from P.O.S. stations and Web site based ordering system to the kitchen.

· Deliver orders to maintain fast service to guests and assemble and package all take-out orders accurately.

· Inspect the premises according to quality and sanitation standards and assist in cleaning.

· Support other tasks as needed (e.g. telephone orders).

· Deposit dishes appropriately in the dish room or specified area.

· Remove soiled plates from tables, proactively, package left over food if a guest requests it and deposit dishes appropriately in the specified area.

· Punches in/out for breaks daily, report back to work on time, fills out appropriate payroll sheets, and notifies manager if leaving the floor for an extended period of time, or taking a break.

· Follow uniform and appearance standards.

· Notify a manager if a guest is becoming intoxicated, rude to other guests, or other notable event.

· Perform other restaurant and customer service related requests to guests.

· Promote coffee consumption by educating customers; selling coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies; preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks.

· Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions.

· Prepares and Sells coffees and coffee drinks by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates.

· Sell and serve beverages from the bar, coffee station, and any prepackaged beverages to guests at the correct service area.

· Secure proper ID to confirm customers ordering alcoholic beverages are over 21.

· Maintain up-to-date Food handlers and Bassett certifications.

· Complete daily/weekly side work and assist with other immediate tasks when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

· High School Diploma or general education diploma (GED).

· One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

· Ability to add and subtract double digit numbers.

· Ability to perform operations using units of measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simply one or two step instructions

· Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

· Regularly exposed to hot and/or humid conditions

· Handle kitchen utensils such as knives, glasses, etc.

· Floors may be slippery

· Carrying large, heavy items such as stock pots, sheet trays which must be cautiously positioned and transported.

· Hot liquids and chemical cleaning solutions are present and must be carefully handled.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.75 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 32 per week
