Job Description

Our client is a fourth generation family owned and operated fabricator of sheet metal, wire, and tubing. This is A full-service Metal fabricating company in Hammond, Indiana.

Specializing in custom architectural products, commercial and industrial projects 1-Setup Operator / Press machine, Fixtures, Press Brake, Fabricated, Measuring, Set up, Dies Spot welder Mon-Fri plus OT when needed) (OT when needed on Sat) (experience preferred) Resume and an interview is required.

Shift hours 2 : 30pm-11pm Plus OT must be able to train in the 1st shift Best Candidate would have experience in setting up Press Operator The responsibilities of production set up include but are not limited to the set up and operation of press brake machines including the CNC requirements as specified by work orders, drawings, templates, samples, or verbal instructions.

Assists with training, coaching, and instructing machine operators for the fabrication of steel parts. Establishes requirements for meeting productivity and quality goals as required by company policies.

• Set up machines with proper electrodes, fixtures, and machine setting to ensure integrity of parts. -Utilizes resistance welding machines according to specifications and with employee safety as the primary concern.
• Ensures and verifies quality of fabricated parts by using samples, weld tests, drawings, and proper measuring tools.-Plans sequence of operations, applying knowledge of physical properties of metal.
• Understands welding techniques and industry best-practices.-Provides input to enhance existing production methods.-Works independently with minimum supervision and / or willing to work in a team environment, which may include working on projects and / or equipment that is outside of original job scope.
• Recommends hiring and releasing of production personnel.-Conducts training, coaching, and development of team members.-Continually strives to meet Midland Metal Products employment standards, policies, and regulations.
• Assists with other departments when necessary.-Maintains awareness of, and continually practices, safe work habits.-Maintains an organized and clean work area.
• Works overtime when needed.-Able to work in a variety of temperature conditions.-Maintains accurate records, both paper and electronic, related to incoming and outgoing materials, job orders, shipping tags, etc.
• Continually updates knowledge of fabricating equipment and forming industry standards.-Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
• Attending company-sponsored training as required (. external, in-house, web / computer based, -Add any guides that may help to eliminate errors if appropriate to fixtures.

Job Requirements

Must have Experience : -1 year(s) of previous press brake set-up skill, knowledge, and experience preferred-Must have proven abilities in communication, organization, setting priorities-Experience with process improvement methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

• Ideal candidate is hands-on, has a strong mechanical aptitude, enjoys problem-solving, and is capable of successfully managing a team of diverse employees.
• Familiarity with PCs, CNC machines, in-house software, and welding controls.-Must be able to read reports, use computer, see in dimly lit / confined spaces, read a tape measure or other measuring device-Prior mechanical training or background.
