Location:
Central OfficePrimary Purpose: To support the successful implementation of the district’s Dyslexia Program. Work with the Special Education department to ensure comprehensive screening and referral process of students for dyslexia services. Guide and coordinate with campus Dyslexia Interventionist on implementing the district’s multiple dyslexia programs. Work with campus and district personnel on implementing research-based instructional practices that support the development of language, early literacy, and handwriting knowledge and concept development.
Qualifications: Education/Certification: Valid Texas teaching credentials in the area(s) and grade level(s) of assignment
Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) or in program to gain ALT certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong knowledge base on TEA Handbook/guidelines and federal requirements on Dyslexia
Exceptional communication skills
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation, as required by IDEA
Knowledge of effective dyslexia intervention instructional strategies and research-based best practices
Evidence of skills in planning, organization, and collaboration
Ability to conduct instruction and/or attend meetings and professional development, and make and receive phone calls in a virtual or remote workplace environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of effective professional development practices
Knowledge of English Language Learners (ELL) strategies
Passion for increasing student learning
Experience using student and campus level data to select, implement and differentiate instructional methods, designed to meet each student’s individual needs
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years as a campus Dyslexia Interventionist
