Community Based Rehabilitation Specialist (CBRS)
Definition:
Skills Building/CBRS is a home, clinic or community-based service that utilizes rehabilitation interventions designed to build and reinforce functional skills. Functional skills are considered any activity related to tasks of daily living (Housing, financial needs, educational, vocational, medical/psychiatric, legal and social skills). The CBRS specialist will assist participants by teaching, instructing, and role-modeling skills. The goal of this service is to help clients integrate, adapt, participate in social environments at home, school and within the participant’s community. CBRS specialists also assist participants in managing mental health symptoms, behavior control, social skills, academic improvement, communication skills, appropriate interpersonal behavior, and coping skills.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:
1. A CBRS specialist must have a bachelor’s degree. It is preferred (not required) in a health, human services, education, or related field of study.
2. Be able to successfully pass a background check with Health and Welfare.
3. Have reliable transportation/insurance and driver's license.
Services/Responsibilities (but not limited to):
1. Assist and teach participants in gaining skills.
2. Provide assessment, evaluation, and feedback sessions to identify participant symptoms or behaviors.
3. Participate in developing participant goals, objectives and interventions with the treatment team.
4. Observe participant, provide support, feedback and role-modeling.
5. Complete case notes/documentation in a timely manner.
6. Attend and participate in agency trainings and supervision.

The physical demands and work environment indicated below are examples of the physical aspects this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions:
1. Persons performing service in this position classification may need to exert 10 to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
2. Persons performing service in this position classification would not lift more than 50 pounds or one-fourth their body weight.
3. This type of work involves sitting in various table, desk and/or chair sizes, walking, participating in various physical activities (jumping rope, basketball, throwing balls, running, skipping, and other activities), standing, sitting on the floor, kneeling down to smaller children.
4. This type of work involves navigating stairwells, participating in fire drills or other drills during an emergency situation, navigating through hallways and doorways.
5. This type of work involves manual dexterity to operate business related equipment (computers, internet), perceive the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral and written information.
6. This type of work requires the ability to drive a vehicle safely and ensure that all passengers are safely secured in seatbelts or other vehicle safety restraints (i.e car seats for younger children).
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
