CROM is Hiring an UHP Superintendent Near Gainesville, FL

Job Description:

The function of the UHP Superintendent is to plan, execute, and perform Ultra High Pressure (UHP) water blasting work in the field.

This position requires taking instruction from Project Managers and coordinating equipment and team members to successfully complete projects that involve hydro demolition, concrete cutting, and surface preparation. In addition to other duties this position will require you to properly maintain equipment, and effectively communicate issues with the support team when equipment isn’t performing properly.

Essential Duties Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage, train, and communicate with field personnel the requirements of the project and develop a plan to complete the work.
  • Understand and implement effective scheduling methods.
  • Understand and implement modern safety practices and procedures while executing an effective jobsite safety program.
  • Instruct, train and commission employees to ensure safe compliance with proper material usage, approved construction methods, and operating procedures.
  • Delegate responsibilities to subordinates while remaining accountable for their performance.
  • Coordinate closely with the Project Manager and Area Manager on the project to ensure the project stays on schedule and within budget.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct ongoing training sessions for employees such as toolbox talks and online training sessions.
  • Maintain effective, cooperative, working relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, owners, engineers, etc.
  • Attend preconstruction meetings; prepare site for job start.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the job to ensure the job is on schedule, safe and all materials are in order.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and secure jobsite during construction, including surrounding site areas, free of trash and debris.
  • Submit all administrative paperwork accurately and timely to the appropriate department including weekly timesheets.
  • Assign specific duties and resources to crew members, and monitor their performance, adjusting where needed.
  • Ensure that all company and OSHA safety rules and regulations are always adhered to. Take immediate action when deficiencies are discovered.
  • Train a “second-in-command” to facilitate ongoing management of the project when it is necessary for the superintendent to be absent from the jobsite. This person must be able to effectively communicate, organize, and lead the entire crew.
  • Use a computer and/or other electronic device with applications including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, CostPoint, ADP, Microsoft Word, FastField Forms, etc.
  • Serve as the competent person for all construction activities.
  • Manage all personnel activities including hiring, corrective actions, separations, transfers, promotions, etc. Communicate with Human Resources as needed.
  • Maintain a high degree of integrity and honesty in all business dealings.
  • Be self-motivated and solve problems effectively.
  • Get along well with others and lead by example.
  • Communicate well with vendors, product representatives, technicians, etc.; know how to listen and record.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts between the existing condition and the project documents and communicate these issues with the project manager.
  • Plan, schedule, and track project timelines and milestones in the field.
  • Supervises and directs work of employees on job site (2 or more employees).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of UHP Superintendent field experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License, with a clean driving record and able to pass our insurance requirements.
  • Must pass an extensive background check, drug screening and Respiratory and Fit Test.
  • Must be able to work at different heights off the ground.
  • Must be a team player and able to work well with a diverse group of personnel.
  • Must be able to lead and mentor team members.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Within 6 months of employment - Completion of Internal UHP Superintendent required safety training.
  • Within 6 months of employment - Completion of Internal UHP and CCR Field Advancement Programs (Levels 1-4).

Other requirements:

  • Strong understanding of typical construction materials and methods
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of a computer or tablet and smart phone
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to track and evaluate project performance against the project budget and adjust as needed to complete the project within budget.

UHP requirements:

  • Extensive UHP knowledge of water demolition, cutting, surface preparation and general construction repair techniques.
  • Equipment Maintenance - Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Operation and Control - Control operations of equipment and make sure the machine is working properly.
  • Operations Analysis - Analyzing needs and product requirements to suggest possible improvements.
  • Quality Control Analysis - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Management of Material Resources Track materials used daily, communicate with PM and UHP Manager of possible shortages.
  • Troubleshooting – Work with support team to determine causes of operating errors and perform field repairs as resources are available.
