Summer Intern: Professional Education & Membership

The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-fueled organization whose mission is to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and improve the quality of life for the children and adults affected by these diseases. Our work is dramatically accelerating the research process through our varied research initiatives; we also provide extensive educational and support resources for patients and their families, medical professionals, and the public. In addition, we lead federal and state-based advocacy campaigns to support medical research funding and improve patient access to care. The Foundation’s core values of compassion, integrity, leadership, collaboration, and inclusion inspire and drive every member of our highly performing team.

Position Summary 

The Foundation has an exciting learning opportunity available for a Professional Education Intern. This is a chance to work within a leading non-profit organization to gain firsthand knowledge on research operations, administration and reporting that help an organization accomplish its mission. This role would provide exposure to an overall field of Professional Education and Marketing. We are seeking someone for this internship who is high-energy, detailed oriented, and a self-starter with strong inter-personal and communication skills.

This is a hybrid internship with 2 days/week in the Foundation's New York City office and 2 days/week remote. 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 

  • Improve data quality by updating records, resolving data discrepancies, and similar tasks.
  • Assist in brainstorming strategies for Professional Education projects, process, and program improvement.
  • Assist in creation of visual reports showcasing program statistics and data for ongoing programs such as the Professional Education Advanced Practice Provider IBD Preceptorship.
  • Proactively reviewing Foundation’s microsite, The IBD Clinical Hub, landing pages and video content – for updating and end user navigation enhancements.
  • Project management assistance for the Foundation’s National Scientific Advisory subcommittees, including program planning, virtual meeting attendance, and meeting minutes.
  • Assist with planning and details of Crohn’s & Colitis Congress and Reception.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications


  • Candidate may be a college student with an interest in public health or adult education/learning management systems or have a focus in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
  • Must be pro-active, self-directed, detail-oriented and organized, as well as work independently in a virtual setting.
  • Comfortable digesting medical literature and content.
  • Ability to interact professionally with multiple and diverse cross-functional stakeholders e.g., Foundation staff, healthcare professionals, internal, and external stakeholders etc.
  • Ability to project manage, prioritize, work under pressure, and meet deadlines (with supervision).
