Crockett Facilities Services is Hiring a HVAC/Mechanical Project Manager Near Lanham, MD

The Project Manager is responsible for new installation and large mechanical repairs for HVAC equipment. You will be responsible for the job from conception through completion. The Project Manager has the following specific areas of responsibility:

Estimating work: You will be responsible for estimating the job through reviewing drawings, statements of work or a walk through. You will prepare a detailed time, cost and labor estimate for mechanical repairs and equipment installations.

Supervising & Leadership: The Project Manager will provide direction and understanding to the crew and is required to be involved and supportive of any day to day disciplinary decisions.

Ensuring the safety of crew members and following OSHA guidelines: The Project Manager must provide leadership that results in a safe work culture, is responsible and accountable for the safety of the crew under his/her direction, and must understand and accept the importance and legal liability of the role.

Planning and scheduling: The Project Manager is accountable for following project plans and schedules and ensuring that crews under his/her direction perform daily and weekly activities to meet production goals. They are also responsible for meeting the quality control standards.

Administration: The Project Manager is accountable for the preparation of reports as required by the employer.

DUTIES:

  • Knowing, understanding, communicating and ensuring compliance with the OHSA, and company safety policies and procedures
  • Facilitate mandatory safety tool box meetings
  • Ensuring completion of initial safety and hazard assessments
  • Participating in safety/incident investigations
  • Estimating projects
  • Ensuring that equipment checks are carried out
  • Communicating the job to and with the crew
  • Assigning crew tasks
  • Recognizing, addressing and resolving issues/problems among/between crew members
  • Maintaining work standards and outlining behavioral expectations to ensure crew morale and productivity
  • Following and applying our company core values
  • Ensuring crew compliance with project policies, company policies and procedures
  • Translating general work requirements into a prioritized work plan for the crew
  • Working with the crew to overcome work challenges
  • Periodically reassess daily goals to meet forecasted production
  • Promoting, supporting and facilitating teamwork and harmony between all crew members by promoting and fostering a positive, visible teamwork attitude among all crew members
  • On-site assessment prior to commencing work to ensure that the job is ready, and addressing any concerns
  • Overseeing the execution of the work, including quality and production, ensuring that the crew works to job specifications and follows the plans
  • Inspecting and measuring completed work
  • Preparation of daily production records
  • Reporting on work progress
  • Daily time keeping & reporting
  • Recommending personnel actions such as hiring, releasing, promotions and discipline
  • Work closely with Business Development on scope and cost development

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ATTITUDE:

  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of actual, practical working experience as a qualified and competent tradesperson.
  • Universal CFC certification.
  • Ability to troubleshoot HVAC and building controls and systems.
  • Experience with commercial/industrial equipment.
  • Must be able to multi-task. Have multiple jobs going at once.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of estimating software such as RSMeans.
  • Must be able to lift 50 to 75 lbs.
  • Current driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • How to read plans, drawings and scope of work
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing, with good comprehension
  • Coach, teach, motivate and mentor crew members
  • Apply good problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Manage differences and diversity at the work site
  • Organize and delegate work
  • Handle the administrative duties of position, including completion of required documents
