What you will be doing:

As a Staff DevSecOps Engineer at Crisis Text Line, you will help establish best practice processes and policies as they relate to the security of our applications, and integrate them into the regular workflow of our DevOps culture of architecting, building, scaling, and maintaining the world’s largest, free, 24/7 service supporting people in crisis over SMS and other messaging platforms. The technology you develop and support will help people move from a hot moment to a cool moment.

• Providing expertise and leadership in security-related decision-making regarding best practices, new and existing technologies, and the architecture of our infrastructure and services

• Building, maintaining, and reliably managing the AWS-hosted infrastructure that powers our services using well-organized Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and other modern best practices

• Engaging with outside vendors and internal engineers to establish and enhance appropriate security tooling, including monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to facilitate fast and painless problem resolutions

• Developing and maintaining our CI/CD workflow, and teaching and empowering engineers to abide by security best practices within a scalable deployment architecture

• Improving the work output and experience of your engineering teammates by surfacing problems, identifying solutions, and cooperatively developing team processes

• Ensuring the security, stability, and reliability of our internal networking and our Data and ETL pipeline, especially as they pertain to standards of compliance

• Supporting our engineers in maintaining and developing a secure web platform based on Symfony, Node.js, TypeScript, and React, where thousands of people in crisis get support every day by connecting with a trained crisis counselor
