Program Coordinator - Safe Children (1st Shift) Position Summary: Provide oversight, development and training to first shift Safe Children’s staff and volunteers. Represents the Nursery in the community through speaking engagements, special events and presentations. Reports to the Director of Programming and supervises Lead Children’s Specialists, Children’s Specialists, and volunteers. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Leadership
Provides active leadership on the floor through face-to-face interaction and modeling of Crisis Nursery philosophy of care
Participates in and serves on the Leadership Team
Serves as on-call supervisor and participates in weekly on-call supervisor meetings
Leads first shift team meetings
Provides quality reflective supervision with first shift team members
Participates on the Crisis Nursery Advisory Committee
Program Management & Development
Develops and implements innovative initiatives for Safe Children’s programming
In collaboration with Director of Programming, provides training of Conscious Discipline for Safe Children’s staff, interns and volunteers
Assists with development and implementation of Crisis Nursery training for staff, interns and volunteers
Assists with data collection and maintenance for Safe Children’s program.
Assists with analysis of program statistics and other requirements of funding agencies
Understands and implements licensing standards for the organization and responds to changes accordingly
Safe Children Staff & Volunteer Management
Recruits, trains, mentors and evaluates first shift Safe Children staff, interns and volunteers
Performs periodic evaluations of staff to remain in compliance with DCFS license
Manages staffing for Safe Children and Volunteer programs
Communicates with staff through weekly team meetings, bi-weekly supervision meetings, and bi-monthly all staff meetings
Participates in volunteer fairs and maintains relationships with campus and community
Develops and administers surveys for volunteers
Tracks and reports all volunteer statistics
Outreach and Collaboration
Represents Crisis Nursery at speaking engagements, meeting and collaborates with other community agencies and organizations
Contributes to publications through program articles and testimonials
Skills and Abilities: Education and Training
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services Field, Child Development, Early Childhood Education from an accredited school or equivalent
Experience
Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem-solving, decision-making and delegation.
Three to five year’s work experience with children, at least two of which are in institutional or other residential group care programs or equivalent
Knowledge
Advanced level of knowledge of early childhood development principles and practices
Advanced knowledge of database management
Advanced level of knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Intermediate level of knowledge of early childhood laws, regulations, and licensing
Working knowledge of Conscious Discipline and BabyTALK
Basic knowledge of principles of continuous quality improvement
