Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodations or other reasons.

 Maintain the Vintrace database:

  • Writes and enters work orders into the winemaking database, vintrace, under the direction of the winemaking team.
  • In conjunction with the winemaking team, accounts for the bulk wine inventory for wine stored both onsite and offsite. 
  • Manages the barrel inventory in vintrace for both full and empty barrels. 
  • Maintains integrity of vintrace for government reporting overseen by the compliance department including TTB 5120.17.

 Monitor execution of winemaking SOP in the winery in coordination with Cellar Master:

  • Organizes day to day cellar operations and monthly cellar calendar to ensure all tasks are completed fully and on time in conjunction with Cellar master.
  • Develops new cellar procedures to improve efficiency. Suggests alternative techniques to existing work practices to accomplish tasks more effectively and efficiently while remaining within winemaking protocol.

Schedule and order all bottling supplies:

  • Maintain and update bottling calendar for Pine Ridge
  • Procures all bottling dry goods including glass, labels, closures, and foils for both onsite and offsite bottlings.
  • Manages the yearly bottling schedule, including botting dates, staffing, and wine filtration under the direction of the winemaking team for both onsite and offsite bottlings. 
  • Completes bottling reports in coordination with Laboratory Manager, incoming/outgoing BOLs, and records on day of bottling. 
  • Ensures packaging standards of both onsite and offsite bottlings.
  • Keeps the bottling dry good inventory up to date and accurately reports to the finance department.

 Central scheduler during harvest:

  • Helps hire new winery employees and interns with the Enologist and advisement of winemakers.
  • During harvest, helps the winemaking team by scheduling incoming fruit, weighing in fruit, managing tank space, tank temperatures, and other cellar tasks as needed.

Perform winery administrative tasks:

  • Oversees the operations of any custom crush clients for completion of all winemaking tasks as well as scheduling client fruit into the winery. 
  • Oversees general cellar purchasing of barrels/winemaking gases/sulfur/dry ice for winery in conjunction with the Cellarmaster., 
  • Helps manage operational budgets under the direction of the winemaking team. 
  • Complies with company safety policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Participates and enforces safety trainings and reports all unsafe conditions or work practices.
  • Keeps printed records of weigh tags, BOLs, and send supporting documentation to both internal and external parties when necessary. 
  • Under the direction of the winemakers and facilities manager supports the construction team on ongoing improvement projects at the winery by tracking construction progress, scheduling contractors, and administrative help as needed.
  • Files government paperwork including Napa County SO2 usage, and California Grape crush report.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in winery operations or related food processing experience.
  • Project management experience is essential.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Windows and MS Office Suite (particularly Excel) 
  • Experience in Vintrace is a plus. 
  • QAC category M license preferred.
  • Spanish or other foreign language skills a plus
  • Willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary during harvest and bottling. 
  • Able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license.

The projected pay range for this position is $28 to $33 per hour in addition to annual bonus. This is the projected compensation for the position however the actual compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors such as (but not limited to) candidate qualifications, related experience and education, candidate work location and market data. Crimson Wine Group reserves the right to modify the pay range/rate at any time in the future.
