CRH is Hiring a Strategic Sourcing Manager Near Rockville, MD

Job Description

 We are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager I to support the Rooms Amenities team. This position is responsible for managing supplier relationships and contracts and supporting customer programs. 

Leveraging best practices and sound processes, the Manager will actively plan and then execute initiatives that result in successful contracts that satisfy customer needs and generate value and/or cost savings. This may also require good business judgment to adjust the process in order to deliver a successful contract in an efficient manner.

The Manager will collaborate with the larger Rooms Amenities team to support the overall category strategy, and will oversee a selection of contracts as assigned for which s/he will ensure the supplier meets their contractual commitments, that customers’ needs are being met, and ensure the contracts remain competitive with market changes.

The Manager will collaborate with the Account Management team and other internal stakeholders in the successful implementation of contracts and projects that support category growth and Avendra’s customers. Additionally, the Manager may interact directly with customers, including senior leadership positions, on high visibility projects, which will require a strong customer service mindset and ability to develop a relationship as a “trusted consultant”.

Job Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities 
o Author Initiative Strategy Worksheets (ISWs) by thoughtfully planning initiatives; manages annual plan by creating realistic timelines and meeting milestones, communicates initiative status; leads effective supplier negotiation and pricing strategy development efforts which integrates Avendra's principles and value proposition.
o Collect, organize, and analyze purchasing data to identify areas of opportunities and measure contract and program successes, and then summarize findings and recommended actions for variety of stakeholders.
o Implements all aspects of client development teams for initiatives, i.e., identify the correct participants, solicit input at the appropriate times, run meetings, etc.
o Manage Business Ownership activity for his/her portfolio of contracts and categories.
o Build and maintain supplier relationships; hold suppliers accountable to deliver contractual commitments.
o Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders on Sourcing activities and projects.
o Make presentations to internal and external teams and suppliers.
o Strong focus on delivering customer savings and enterprise value.
o Include a thorough understanding of Avendra’s customer target markets, including current and potential customers.

Secondary Responsibilities
• Ensure team collaborates with internal departments, clients and suppliers to maximize the success of all contracts
• Ensure team is responsive to contract ownership issues, e.g., address competitive issues within categories, pricing strategies, allowances, supplier performance, innovation, etc.
• Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders that will help team complete their job
• Collaborate with Business Ownership colleagues to improve performance of Avendra’s contracts and promote the use of available Business Ownership Tools.
• Ensure team is responsive to client requests, as appropriate

Work Environment. This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. 

Physical Demands. This is largely a sedentary role with some light lifting of files possibly needed. 

Qualifications

• Technical sourcing knowledge; strong negotiations skills
• Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication and presentation skills
• Strong project management capabilities
• Strong analytical thinking that leads to objective, fact-based decision making
• Ability to develop category and product knowledge in areas in which no or limited experience
• Ability to develop a contract that meets clients’ business needs
• Ability to build strong relationships at all levels within Avendra, Clients, and with Suppliers

Overnight Travel Requirements. Type: All modes of transportation, percentage 10-25%, length: 1-2 nights 

Years of Relevant Experience. 5-8 years of experience-hospitality experience preferred but not required

Education Requirements. BS/BA in relevant field or equivalent years' experience.
