Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:
Run client engagements from start to finish, which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects and managing to budget
Supervise, train, and mentor associates and interns on tax projects and assess performance of staff for engagement reviews; perform in-charge role as needed
Review tax returns done by staff and make recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities; gain increasing responsibility in review process
Prepare tax returns for more complex individual, trust, partnership, corporate, and foreign tax clients
Research and consult on various tax matters; utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns and research tax matters
Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities
Offer/recommend new tax strategies and determine profitability of potential acquisitions and mergers
Regularly identify areas of tax reductions and savings
On occasion traveling to clients
Minimum Qualifications
2 years of progressive tax return preparation and compliance experience
Strong tax accounting skills with proficiency in US GAAP, tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, consolidated federal tax returns, partnership returns, and combined state tax returns
Bachelor's degree in taxation, finance, accounting, or business
Ability to meet or exceed time constraints and goals
Ability to work in a team environment, supervise staff and lead projects
Ability to work additional hours as needed
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in accounting, taxation, or equivalent
CPA license or in process of obtaining CPA license
Proficient with a computer software packages and platforms including Microsoft Office Suite, Tax software, ProSystems Engagement and CCH Axcess
