Crescent Regional Hospital is Hiring a Director of Education Near Lancaster, TX

Job Summary

Provides overall planning, direction, coordination, management and supervision for the Education Department; this includes staff education and patient education. Consults with clinical educators, staff, physicians and Nurse Executive on the organization’s educational requirements to ensure patient and staff needs are met. Develops educational policies and procedures. Serves as a resource person to staff and management.

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas

  • Supports and empowers staff to embrace the mission and value statement of the organization.
  • Demonstrates ability to direct educational programs covering the life span including neonate, pediatric,adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.
  • Develops and directs orientation programs, inservices and continuing education for all organization staff.
  • Ensures staff receive timely, complete and documented orientation and training.
  • Interacts professionally with the nursing staff, nurse managers and other department managers to determine specific educational needs and to coordinate educational programs to meet those needs.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with all departments of the organization. Coordinates the required inservices annually, i.e., safety, fire safety, emergency management and infection prevention and control, basic cardiac life support.
  • Develops, evaluates, reviews, revises and implements policies and procedures; goals and objectives; and standards of care.
  • Supports and carries out the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates training programs with organizations, schools, i.e., students from different schools of healthcare, nursing, surgical technician.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff, Nurse Executive and administration.
  • Performs management activities including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, termination and departmental staffing.
  • Ability to serve as a resource person, consultant to nursing and medical staff, students and ancillary staff members.
  • Maintains performance improvement activities for the department. Performs competency evaluations of staff members.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
  • Follows the seven (7) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
  • Assists with the coordination of performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Responsible for developing a budget for the Education Department.
  • Performs management activities including reports, presentations, evaluations, and maintains educational records for the organization.
  • Documentation meets standards and regulations.
  • Develops, coordinates, conducts and evaluates organization-wide staff development programs, seminars, conferences, etc.
  • Develops and coordinates conferences/seminars for the medical community and health programs for the general community; develops promotional materials and brochures.
  • Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directives to staff and encourages interactive departmental meetings and discussions.
  • Treats patients and families with respect and dignity; ensures patient confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible and organized.
  • Studies current trends, new technology, new teaching methodologies through professional journals, seminars, conferences, professional societies.

Regulatory Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Texas.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Minimum of one (1) year work experience in the Clinical Education.
