Crescent City Schools is Hiring a 2024-2024 Dean of Culture Near Orleans, LA

The Dean of Culture impacts students’ lives by:

  • Embodying, advocating, and operationalizing the mission, vision, and direction of the school
  • Working closely with the Principal and the leadership team to establish a positive, structured, and inspiring school culture
  • Building effective relationships with students and families and professionally communicating with families to encourage behavior changes at school
  • Supporting teachers and behavior staff to hold all students to high and consistent behavioral expectations
  • Collecting and analyzing behavioral data to inform discipline decisions and improve practices
  • Serving as the point person for dealing with behavioral crisis intervention and acute behavioral issues
  • Acting as a resource to teachers in their instructional practice, especially as it relates to issues of discipline, student relationships, classroom management, and school culture
  • Working closely with students, families, school counselors, and teachers to create and execute individualized behavior interventions when needed
  • Helping to reinforce the effective use of the school-wide behavior plans, including managing the paycheck and behavior chart systems
  • Serving as the point person for discipline/culture issues
  • After CPI training, implementing de-escalation techniques when working with students in crisis
  • Being highly present and visible during the school day by proactively circulating through classrooms and hallways to collect data on student behavior and help support a positive school culture
  • Supporting the behavioral expectations during arrival/dismissal, transitions, meals, and bathroom breaks 
  • Ensuring that behavioral expectations and school culture standards are met on school buses
  • Participating in regular leadership and team meetings
  • Tracking and documenting student behaviors, interventions, consequences, and parent/guardian communication
  • Leading staff professional development sessions related to behavior intervention techniques and implementing school-wide discipline systems with fidelity
  • Supporting teachers in building meaningful relationships with students and parents
  • Participating in the life of the school, including after-school student and leadership team activities and events
  • Taking on other tasks as needed

Physical Requirements
