DESCRIPTION:

Creminelli Fine Meats is hiring a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor. This person will supervise processes and procedures in the receiving and shipping department. Records time, date, quantity, source, and destination of materials received or shipped. They will ensure that goods are verified against records of shipment. Oversees the inspection of goods received. Supervises the maintenance of records of damaged or defective items and discrepancies in quantities and weights. Shipping supervisor is responsible for hiring and managing a staff. That includes scheduling and directing a team of employees. They also will handle much of the day-to-day operations themselves, interacting with delivery drivers who visit a warehouse to pick up shipments. Shipping supervisor must make sure their warehouse has the required items and necessary supplies. Candidate will need to know how to operate equipment used in the shipping process, including forklifts and other machinery. Candidate must maintain a warehouse and keep track of invoices. Candidate must have strong computer skills and be comfortable using an ERP system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises employees engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and in preparing items for shipment.
• Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
• Calculates estimated costs associated with the shipping/delivery function and recommends appropriate alternatives.
• Ensures compliance with DOT regulations.
• Prepares daily management reports.
• Prepares other standard and ad hoc reports as needed.
• Maintains various files and records – both computerized and hard copy files.
• Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
• Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
• Compiles records of unfilled orders.
• Posts weight and shipping charges. Prepares bills of lading.
• Provides supervision, training, scheduling, and guidance to shipping personnel.
• Plans, organizes and supervises the delivery function of the department ensuring timely and efficient delivery of high quality products.
• Coordinates with the Plant Manager, Plant Supervisors, Production Scheduler and other Plant personnel in order to attain delivery, cost and quality of service objectives.
• Works effectively with dealers/customers to schedule deliveries and the pick-up of returned merchandise.
• Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
• Prepares export documents for international shipments

Requirements

• Minimum 2 - 3 years shipping experience with dated and perishable products.
• Supervisor experience, proven ability to effectively manage a team.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Frozen/?refrigerated product experience required.
• Knowledge of applicable transportation laws.
• Computer literacy in a variety of programs. Familiar with TMS and ERP systems.
• Proven track record of dependability. 
• Ability to work flexible hours, including arriving early, staying late and working holidays and weekends as needed.
