We are currently seeking a Facilities Technician to bolster an already strong team!

The Facilities Technician is responsible for programming, maintenance, repairs and support of all aspects of the grounds, facilities, finishing, production and associated equipment in accordance with safety, quality, and productivity requirements of a 3-shift operation. The Facilities Technician plans and performs maintenance activities, facilities and equipment project work including demolition and installation, assembles and rebuilds electrical and mechanical equipment within level of training to maintain a safe and productive working environment. This position receives job assignments from Facilities Manager, Facility Supervisor or team member.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect grounds, facilities, finishing, production and associated equipment for condition and function in accordance with regulatory requirements, industry standards or equipment specifications.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with regulatory requirements, industry standards or equipment specifications.
  • Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts. Rebuilds facilities, finishing and production equipment as required. May perform equipment modifications as needed by senior facilities staff.
  • Performs electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning equipment.
  • Assists production and engineering personnel to resolve process and equipment performance issues.
  • Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings.
  • Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts. Rebuilds facilities equipment as required. May perform equipment modifications as needed.
  • Drain and clean dip tanks in finishing following standard operating and confined space entry procedures.
  • Clean and maintain ovens in finishing following standard operating and confined space entry procedures.
  • Contact vendors and contractors, acquire bids, escort, and work with contractors as directed by senior facilities staff.
  • Recognize, evaluate and recommend controls for conditions or processes which could negatively affect safety, quality, productivity or the environment.
  • Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods, equipment performance, equipment selection, and quality of work.
  • Work with design engineering, contractors and suppliers to ensure equipment is running reliably and efficiently.
  • Suggests changes in work conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Utilizes Computerized Maintenance Management System and Standard Work to maintain time and productivity records.
  • Maintains time and productivity records. Assists Facilities Planner with metrics reporting as instructed.
  • Maintains knowledge and skill set regarding building systems and equipment. Attends training as instructed.
  • Develop, deliver and document training for team regarding troubleshooting equipment, equipment maintenance methods, and equipment safety requirements.
  • Communicate effectively and build relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Operate common computer software including email and calendar as instructed.
  • Performs, supports, and sustains 5S initiatives within the department and throughout the facility.
  • Point of contact for emergencies and on call as directed by senior facilities staff.
  • Develop troubleshooting guides, equipment maintenance methods, equipment safety instructions, or other documented instructions as appropriate. Maintains records in CMMS or other systems as instructed.
  • Performs and maintains inventory of replacement parts, dealing with vendors to locate parts to keep equipment running and to maintain production schedules.
  • After appropriate training, set-up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools. Operates hand and power tools.
  • After appropriate training, operate cutting torch and/or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Performs work in a safe manner, including using the Lockout-Tagout procedures. Promotes and supports the maintenance of a safe, efficient, and effective work environment. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years of relevant hands on experience
  • Basic plumbing, electrical and HVAC

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Work Ethic:

  • Must have a strong work ethic, attention to quality, sense of urgency, and organizational and communication skills. Must be a self-starter with a sense of self-reliance and adaptable in a fast-paced environment. Must work well in a team environment.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and drawings. Ability to complete required documentation and write routine reports and correspondence, both hand written and by computer. Ability to verbally communicate with operators, supervisors, and management regarding status of work.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using decimals. Ability to compute ratio, percent and to calculate common mathematical problems. 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to follow written or oral instructions and to quickly understand and execute tasks. Ability to deal with several different problems involving many different variables and find the optimal solution.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Ability to work from time to time in locations with poor accessibility, such as below work stations or inside test enclosures.
