Credo Community Center for Treatment of Addictions is Hiring a Therapist Near Watertown, NY

Description

Credo's Licensed Substance Abuse Therapist (LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LMFT) will provide a full array of individual, group and family rehabilitative services to persons affected by substance use, mental illness and/or opioid use in an outpatient setting utilizing integrated treatment theory, principles and methods.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with one or two nights a week possible 10am-7pm

Essential Job Functions:

  • Apply master level MSW, MHC or MFT theory, principles and methods to prevent, assess, evaluate, formulate and implement a plan of action based on client needs and strengths
  • Intervene to address mental, social, emotional, behavioral, developmental, and addictive disorders, conditions and disabilities, and of the psychosocial aspects of illness and injury experienced by individuals, couples, families, groups, communities, organizations and society
  • Engage in the administration of tests and measures of psychosocial functioning, provide client advocacy, case management, counseling, consultation, research, administration and management, and teaching
  • Provide comprehensive mental health screenings and initial assessments to medically-referred and other clients
  • Provide short-term and long-term, structured, evidence-based psychotherapy as part of an appropriate treatment plan
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the client’s primary care provider to improve health outcomes
  • Be a member of the Clinical Health Services team
  • Facilitate referrals to other services (e.g. substance abuse treatment, specialty care and community resources) as needed
  • Work closely with the Medical Director, Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Director on challenging cases
  • Work to meet patient needs effectively and resolve individual barriers through follow-up, advocacy and collaboration with other clinicians and other community service providers
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all client related services and case management notes
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local universities that provide Credo with interns; assist with annual intern recruitment; supervise behavioral health interns
  • Provide regular, written reports to the Clinical Director and additional reports as assigned
  • Diagnose mental, emotional, behavioral, addictive and developmental disorders and disabilities
  • Administer and interpret tests and measures of psychosocial functioning, social work advocacy, case management, counseling, consultation, research, administration and management and teaching
  • Develop and implement an appropriate assessment-based treatment plan for each client
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed
  • As we work toward and maintain an integrated model of care you may be asked to work in either the addiction or mental health clinic based on client demands
  • Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization

Requirements

Minimum Job Qualifications/Skills:

  • Must have a Master level degree as MHC, MSW or MFT and a current valid license to legally practice as a LMHC, LMSW, LMFT or a limited permit in New York
  • Shall be competent to treat adults and adolescents for ongoing psychotherapy
  • Shall have at least one year of experience of effectively providing integrated treatment services for clients and family members
  • Familiarity and comfort working with issues related to homelessness, substance abuse, mental health diagnosis, and history of trauma
  • Experience in the following areas: psychosocial assessment, individual therapy, group therapy, evidence-based counseling
  • Maintain at least the continuing education requirements of specific profession
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences
  • Strong administrative skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Support the goal and approach of person-centered care
  • Must subscribe to a Professional Canon of Ethics

Other Job Requirements:

Must maintain a valid Drivers License, as specified in the personnel policies. Must comply with all laws and policies concerning confidentiality, security, and client rights as specified in the employee handbook, 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA. Must maintain current certification and/or training in CPR and First Aid and any other areas specified by state law and agency regulation as is required to maintain mental health licensing in New York State.

Travel: Limited travel and attendance at various Credo meetings/training programs required. In addition, travel to provide offsite services if needed.
