Crèche is seeking an experienced, energetic lead PreKindergarten teacher to join our team of leaders! Work in a state of the art, all-day Private Day School, in east Manhattan. The school serves children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Our low student to teacher ratios support individualized attention in an atmosphere of integrated learning. This is a year-round program, with full-time operating hours. Working hours are flexible and pay is competitive.

The person in this position will facilitate curriculum to children ages 3 to 5 years old. Applicants must be experienced, dedicated and have a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices, authentic child assessment and the ability to relate to and communicate well with parents and staff. The person in this key roll must be a self-starter, and be able to successfully maintain an orderly classroom, and oversee activities cooperatively, and work alongside with parents effectively.

The person in this position will:

• Create and administer weekly lesson plans based on children's development, while following the Kansas Early Learning Standards and NAEYC criteria
• Maintain child portfolios, and one classroom portfolio to include anecdotal notes, regular assessments, photos, and work samples
• Foster children's growth on an developmentally-appropriate level
• Conduct developmental assessments of children as needed, as advised by the Director
• Interact professionally with parents, co-workers, and children on a daily basis; providing resources and directly communicating with parents each time they enter/exit the classroom.
• Maintain the classroom to ensure quality, safety, state ratios, and sanitation guidelines are met at all times
• Be an attentive and supportive team member: submit to the leadership of the Director; communicate effectively and in a positive manner; maintain regular hours in order to keep consistency within the classroom
• Take initiative to help create classroom projects daily, allowing time for the correct supplies to be gathered and set aside
• Work alongside parents and teachers in promoting individual development

Required Qualifications: A minimum of 2 years working with preschool and/or kindergarten age children in a formalized setting and/or licensed facility, 18 years of age and older, ability to pass background checks and drug screening, and AT LEAST ONE of the following:

• Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Family Studies or related study.
• Child Development Associate certificate plus two years teaching in a licensed center or preschool
• At least 24 hours of academic college credit within Early Childhood or Education related studies and three months experience in a licensed preschool or child care center
