Shipping and Receiving/Crating Specialist

Responsibilities consist of preparing and processing items for shipment and the wrapping, hand process, stenciling, marking, and fabricating wood shipping containers. This includes making measurements, marking lumber and plywood and operating woodworking equipment, e.g., table, cut-off, and band saw. Requires the ability to layout, fabricate and assemble shipping crates/boxes. In addition, the packing, loading, and securing of parts, assemblies, material, and tools for domestic and export shipment.

DUTIES

• Fabricate wooden crates or boxes using woodworking hand tools and powered tools.
• Read shipping notices and other specifications to determine materials needed and types of support and braces to be used.
• Assembles materials using nailing or stapling machine, screws, bolts, glue. and hand tools.
• Wraps and pads products.
• Builds crate around large or odd-shaped articles.
• Wraps and tightens metal bands around crate using banding equipment.
• Attach proper identification labels on crates.
• Cover equipment with neoprene or other protective covering to protect it during shipments.

SKILLS

• Knowledge of packing/crating procedure
• Mechanical aptitude
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Written and verbal communication proficiency
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Previous warehouse experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
