Creative Nursery and Preschool is seeking an energetic, positive, patient, loving, responsible and reliable individual to assist with all functions of the child care program as a substitute teacher in all classrooms - Infant/Toddler, 2 year olds, Preschool (ages 3-5).

This position would be perfect for a college student majoring in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or someone retired.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in a child care program and some college coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a closely related field.

Following are a few examples of the kind of care a Substitute in our program provides:

-Nurture and support the development of all children in the program (infants through 5 year-olds)

-Communicates about the child's day through the Brightwheel App

-Communicate with parents at drop-off and/or pick-up

-Utilize redirection and positive discipline

-Diaper children followed by cleaning and sanitizing

-Assist with toilet training (including handling accidents)

-Serve meals (breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack) followed by cleaning and sanitizing tables/chairs/high chairs

-Supervise outdoor play period

-Sanitize toys and other daycare equipment and assist with morning opening chores and/or end of day clean-up duties

-Other duties as required

The hours would vary each week and are on an as-needed basis but would be between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM Monday through Friday. The hourly rate is $15-16 per hour. There are no fringe benefits for the Substitute position other than light meals and snacks.

Physical requirements include an ability to lift and carry young children, the ability to get down on the floor and up again quickly and easily and the general ability to perform the duties listed above. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Punctuality and reliability are of the utmost importance. Excessive lateness or absences will result in termination. Mistreatment of the children of any sort (physical, verbal, emotional or otherwise) will result in immediate termination.
