Creative Learning Center is Hiring a Classroom Aide Near Redwood, CA

Overview

Creative Learning Center in Redwood City is now hiring Full-time and Part-time Behavior Technicians starting at $20/hr with benefits!

CLC, a Learn It Family of Companies division, is a certified K – 12 Private Day School designed to meet the academic and social needs of children who require a highly individualized behavioral and educational setting. We offer training and mentorship for candidates with limited experience!

This position is perfect for candidates that are generally interested to work with children with special needs and want to make a difference in their lives! It’s also a great opportunity for candidates with a background in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology and Healthcare.

Certification supervision is available for candidates who are seeking BCBA certification or internships in a teaching credential. Additionally, if you possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any field and pass your CBEST test you could also apply at CA Department of Education to become a Substitute Teacher.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instructional support to individual and/or groups of students and monitor ability to follow directions and behavior.
  • Implement treatment plans using ABA techniques.
  • Collect data regarding student(s) reaching goals/objectives as directed by licensed staff.
  • Assist staff in maintaining charts and other records related to student(s) progress.
  • Reinforce academic behaviors taught by licensed staff and provide the student with opportunities to practice.
  • Assist student in community, recreational, school, and leisure activities under the direction of licensed staff.
  • Implement district approved techniques for verbal de-escalation and safe physical restraint, such as Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and required by the building administration and licensed staff.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
  • 1-2 years’ experience working with children in a special need’s education setting preferred but not required.
  • Ability to collaborate and receive to feedback, mentoring and direction from peers and supervisors
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining a professional and clinical perspective at all times, with the ability to not internalize or personalize (e.g. emotionally) in regard certain student behaviors or mannerisms that occur.
  • Demonstrated experience using physical ability and dexterity to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions (including the use of therapeutic holds) of all involved (e.g. self, student, other employees
  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (stoop, reach, stand, kneel, squat, sit, walk, lift, pull, grasp) for extended periods of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
