Job Description

Position Summary:

The Senior Program Manager is responsible for managing CRDF Global activity on one or more significant programs, has supervisory experience as well as program or project management experience, and is comfortable managing high-impact activities. The Senior Program Manager will translate conceptual policy ideas into actionable programs and projects, which includes work plan, resource and budget management. The ability to communicate effectively and to interact with subject matter experts in the field in academic, non-profit, industry and government sectors is essential to successful performance.

Programming includes, but is not limited to:

  • U.S. Department of State and foreign government-supported activities on advancing nuclear safety, security, and nonproliferation through technical capacity-building support to potential nuclear energy newcomer countries and current nuclear energy countries that are considering advanced reactor designs to meet their clean energy needs
  • U.S. Department of State and foreign government-supported activities on international dialogue on the peaceful uses of nuclear technology

Under the supervision of the Director Programs, Security Assistance, the Senior Program Manager will manage the technical, human resource, financial, and administrative aspects of this program portfolio to ensure they are administered and implemented in a manner consistent with CRDF Global and funder objectives.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manages a complex program portfolio with multiple programs with total value exceeding $10M annual revenue, including program planning, budgeting, funder reporting, and implementing a monitoring and evaluation plan. Provides input on CRDF Global annual budget
  • Oversees development of annual program plans and project plans in relation to program/project goals and contractual responsibilities, shapes the direction and functioning of new programs and advises program managers and project managers on programmatic issues
  • Manages growth of assigned portfolio; develops proposals for new programs, including proposal writing and proposal budgeting
  • Manages a high performance, matrixed and geographically dispersed team; supervises and develops direct reports and team members; oversees the recruitment, hiring and onboarding processes of staff; establishes work and development goals with staff; provides feedback on performance standards; ensures staff are compliant with CRDF Global policy
  • Coordinates communication with funders, internal and external clients, and CRDF Global Board members and senior management; conducts stakeholder engagement and networking for the portfolio
  • Represents CRDF Global at external events such as scientific and business conferences, and makes presentations to educate others about programs; remains current on relevant program topics
  • Participates in domestic and international events, including leading delegations
  • Supports other programs and staff as required
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree in related field, Ph.D. degree preferred
  • 8 years of work experience in a nuclear technology field
  • 5 years of supervisory or team management experience
  • Experience in budget development and financial management and reporting
  • Excellent and effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with a wide range of individuals from varied backgrounds at all levels within their organizations
  • Strong diplomatic and negotiating skills
  • Federal grant or contract management experience required
  • Strong conceptual skills combined with the ability to take ambitious ideas and to break them into manageable, specific sets of objectives in order to plan and successfully implement creative, ambitious new projects
  • Willing and able to travel internationally and domestically depending on program up to 25%
  • U.S. work authorization
  • Must be eligible to obtain security clearance

Salary & Benefits: The base pay range for this position is $97,760 to $146,640. The determination of salaries in this job classification depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, relevant candidate experience, job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills. In addition, we have a comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance; 403(b) retirement savings plan; paid time off; education reimbursement; student loan paydown and more.
