Job Duties

ODNR owns and manages state parks, state forests, state nature preserves and wildlife areas. We license all hunting, fishing and watercraft; oversee and permit all mineral extraction, monitor dam safety, manage water resources and serve as the second largest Law Enforcement presence in the State of Ohio.

We are accepting applications for a Deputy Chief of Capital and Environmental Projects (Natural Resources Administrator 4) within the Division of Parks & Watercraft. The position requires travel but will be headquartered in Franklin County at 2045 Morse Road, Columbus, Ohio 43229. What you will do…

  • Assist the Chief Operating Officer in planning, organizing, and directing the Division of Parks and Watercrafts Capital Project Administrators, ODOT Highway funds, Fuel Storage Tank Program, Environmental Compliance, Trail Programs, Real Estate Management, and 5TD0 Projects.
  • Develop & administer operational plans for programs assigned, in order to meet division’s mission, goals, & objectives.
  • Evaluate work progress toward achievement of program objectives & reports to leadership on a timely basis.
  • Provide guidance/technical assistance to address current programmatic issues &/or concerns & in developing future programmatic initiatives.
  • Serve as direct supervisor of assigned staff.
  • Starting hourly pay of $39.27/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 6.5 years of service, with an end salary of $56.10/hr.
  • Requires travel; may be on call 24 hrs. per day, 7 days per week.

Qualifications
66 mos. trg. or 66 mos. exp. in natural resources specialty indicated under job duties within approved position description (i.e., Capital and Environmental Projects); valid driver’s license.
  • Or undergraduate major core program & 42 mos. exp. in natural resources specialty indicated under job duties within approved position description (i.e., Capital and Environmental Projects); valid driver’s license.
  • Or completion of graduate major core program & 30 mos. exp. in natural resources specialty indicated under job duties within approved position description (i.e., Capital and Environmental Projects); valid driver’s license.
  • Or 6 mos. exp. as Natural Resources Administrator 3, 22913, in assigned area (i.e., Capital and Environmental Projects); valid driver’s license.
  • Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
