Cranemasters is Hiring a Painter's Helper Near Chesterfield, VA
- Performs tasks assigned by Painter and Shop Manager Painter to ensure that vehicles and equipment are properly prepped prior to painting. Typical duties include: grinding, surface cleaning, sanding, taping/masking.
- As directed by 1st shift painter and Shop Manager , removes accessories from vehicles and equipment prior to painting/masking/prep work. Includes: removal of chrome, mirrors, windshield wipers, etc.
- Performs tasks as assigned in order to assist Painter and Shop Manager in paint shop activities. Includes: mixing or thinning paint, surface preparation, operating hand-tools/equipment.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the paint booth and all associated work areas.
- Performs all duties in a safe manner and in accordance with established work standards. Follows all safety rules/regulations.
- Cleans tools and paint equipment to ensure quality operation and maintenance of trade tools.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Proactively participates in all training opportunities in order to further develop skills and abilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 1-2 years technical training in field. Prefer one year of prior work experience in painting operations at a helper level.
- Demonstrated ability to meet expectations for attention to detail and achievement of work assignments; commitment to completion of tasks and follow-up responsibilities.
- Education to include: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Team player committed to working in a quality environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Able to read, write and speak English.
- Constantly on feet
- Walking / carrying loads on uneven surfaces and in ballast.
- Working in ALL weather conditions.
- Working extended hours.
- Constant bending, twisting, stooping, standing and / or walking.
- Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds; loads in excess of 50 pounds and which can be reduced, should be made lighter.
- Employee must obtain assistance when lifting items weighing more than 75 pounds, or items which present ergonomic challenges in lifting/movement/placement.
- We are a 24/7 emergency service provider to the railroad industry and as such employees are subject to work outside of normal working hours including nights, weekends and/or holidays.
