Job Summary: The Safety and Health Specialist will use established procedures and work under general supervision to implement and maintain company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. This role is involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and implements environmental, health and safety initiatives. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Essential Functions:

• Ensure compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations

• Create, maintain, and update safety and environmental procedures

• Prepare, maintain and update environmental and safety regulations

• Conduct safety audits, safety committee meetings, accident investigations

• Advise management on accident-prevention and safety enhancements

• Coordinate safety training programs

• Conduct new hire safety orientation

• Keep current with changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization

• Serve as point of contact with federal, state and local regulatory bodies

• Any other tasks assigned by supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience: 3 years of relevant work experience

• Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations and worker’s compensation laws.

• Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated ability to conduct stand up presentations. Demonstrated ability to interact with internal and external contacts.

• Education/Certification: BS degree in Safety and Health Management or similar
