POSITION SUMMARY:

The Admissions Operations Representative is responsible for obtaining benefits, medical insurance authorizations, and follow-up related to financial services for incoming Craig Hospital patients. This position will also be responsible for benefit and financial related tasks. Position is responsible for understanding and communicating all admissions paperwork to incoming patients and families in their transition to Craig Hospital’s environment and processes.

Salary Range: $18.65 - $26.86

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Licensure/Certification/Registrations: none
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience: Medical knowledge of neurologic rehabilitation strongly preferred. Medical insurance or admission experience strongly preferred.
• Skills & Abilities: Skills & Abilities: Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Skilled in working professionally with individuals inside and outside of Craig Hospital. Working knowledge of EMR systems, experience with EPIC strongly preferred. Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities and prioritize and schedule accordingly. Must be able to successfully and effectively communicate with a variety of personnel. Work collaboratively with other departments and physicians. Be familiar with a variety of healthcare concepts. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position. Proven analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Gather, analyze, and synthesize information and data from multiple sources. Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and the health insurance industry, to include benefit verification. Access a variety of insurance benefit collection websites including commercial, Medicare and Medicaid for verification of benefits. Knowledge of working with worker’s compensation carriers. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Collect comprehensive demographic and insurance information.
• Obtain a detailed explanation of benefits. Verify all covered benefits of the policy for inpatient and outpatient services and policy exclusions.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for co-workers regarding patient benefit coverages.
• Serve as primary point of contact for all worker’s compensation insurance cases, providing communication between
• Complete all funding verification for patients in a timely manner. Ensure all needed documentation is signed in a timely manner.
• Communicate with Admissions Operations Supervisor and Admissions Director regarding status of benefit collection, status of pre-certifications, and any concerns or problems regarding patient benefits.
• Assists with admissions arrivals to the facility including but not limited to completing all Admissions paperwork and assisting applicable families with housing information.
• Interview patients or family members to verify correct demographic and financial information required to complete the registration/admission and record the information in the electronic medical record system.
• Ensure administrative duties are prepared daily for potential admissions
• Cross train with Admissions Pre-certification Specialist to provide back-up when needed.
• Ability to communicate with insurance providers via phone, email, and online portals
• Provide accurate information of Craig's programs and hospital information when outside organizations or customers inquire.
• Respond in a timely manner to inquiry calls from hospital discharge planners, families, and other referral sources. Greet, inform, direct, assist and provide the highest level of customer service to patients, patient families, visitors, fellow employees, referral sources and insurance companies.
• Create a positive experience for patients, family members or others while performing tasks such as pre-admitting, admitting, registering, routing or escorting patients, family members or visitors. 
• Coordinate with the Unit secretaries/Nursing teams for planned admissions.
