Position Title: Brake Press/ Laser Operator

Location: St. Charles, MO

Schedule: 2pm - Midnight (4-Days/10-Hour Shift)

Position Summary: This position is responsible for the daily setup and operation of CNC controlled press brake in a just-in-time fabrication shop. Produce parts to specifications of shop drawings. Sets up and operates power brake/power press to bend, notch, punch, form rolls, arc, or straighten metal plates or sheet metal and structural shapes to blueprint or sketch specifications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and/or programs power press or power brake machines
  • Review blueprint or sketch specifications
  • Selects, positions, and aligns dies in machine ram and bed, using shims, rule, square, or templates
  • Sets specified pressure of ram and clearance between dies to thickness of metal
  • Positions work piece to align layout marks to dies
  • Operates power press or power brake machine activating ram that bends or cuts the metal work piece
  • Checks to make sure each work piece is bent or cut to specifications Meet established deadlines

Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certification from trade school and/or 1-5 years' experience as CNC Machine operator, Press Brake operator, Turret Punch Press Operator, or Laser Operator.
  • Must be safety conscious with good housekeeping skills
  • 1 year of Press Brake Set-up, Programming and Operation
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to use measurement instruments, and to read and understand blueprints
  • Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively with quality assurance personnel

Preferred Skills:

  • 2 years of metal fabrication and/or CNC
  • Computer skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for 8 10 hours
  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds
